We hope you've heard by now that our friends at the Glen-Ed Pantry are making progress on their wonderful new facility to better serve residents in need within the Edwardsville School District communities. The state-of-the-art facility is under construction near the current building on Fifth Avenue and will provide additional space, overcome accessibility issues, and expand the Pantry's range of services and capabilities.
The City of Edwardsville is a longtime supporter of the Pantry and its mission, and we're proud to continue that support as the new building rises. It was an honor to be joined at Tuesday night's City Council meeting by Pantry Executive Director Jane Ahasay, who invited the City's elected officials and staff to sign a magnet that will have a permanent spot tucked away inside the "skeleton" of the new building! The magnet already holds signatures of many other donors and supporters.
"I'm very pleased that all of you came tonight to sign that (magnet) as well and become a permanent part of this new building," Ms. Ahasay said. "This new building will serve your residents in need for many, many years to come."
Mayor Art Risavy expressed the gratitude of the City and its elected officials for the Pantry's decades of hard work and dedication. You can learn more about the Pantry's existing and future capabilities, see a list of most-needed items, take advantage of services offered and/or lend a hand to the building campaign at the Pantry's website: https://www.glenedpantry.org/
