๐Ÿซ ILLINOIS SCHOOL REFERENDUMS โ€” NOVEMBER 3, 2026

How much are Illinois schools asking voters to authorize this November?

According to Fight for Illinois' statewide referendum database, school-related ballot proposals include:

๐Ÿ”น $2.1 BILLION in proposed school borrowing statewide.

๐Ÿ”น $28.63 MILLION annually in estimated additional school district property-tax revenue.

๐Ÿ”น $157.8 MILLION annually in estimated additional county school sales-tax revenue.

Closer to home, Teutopolis, Champaign, and Mahomet-Seymour school districts are requesting a combined $291 MILLION in borrowing authorizations. Crawford County voters will also consider a 1% school-facilities sales tax, estimated to generate $2.5 million annually.

These figures represent different types of funding proposals. Borrowing amounts do not include interest, and some districts propose replacing expiring debt rather than increasing existing tax rates.

Know what's on your ballot. Understand what's being requested. Vote on the record.

FUNDING PRIORITIES?

Illinois lawmakers redirected approximately $860 MILLION annually from the Road Fund to public transportation under SB2111.

85% goes to Chicago-area transit, including CTA, Metra and Pace. The remaining 15% goes to downstate transit.

Meanwhile, SB1938 proposes a pilot program to study taxing Illinois drivers by the mile.

So Springfield redirects $860 million away from roads, then considers another way to charge drivers to fund them?

That's quite a game of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Illinois taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going.

Know the Record. Vote the Record.
