The 33rd Fighter Wing successfully executed a hurricane evacuation (HURREVAC) of 31 F-35A Lightning II aircraft while securing facilities and safeguarding assets on Oct. 8, 2026 ahead of Hurricane Isaias.

The 33rd Fighter Wing’s 85th Fighter Group conducted routine divert training operations at the Tulsa Air National Guard Base alongside the 138th Fighter Wing, strengthening readiness to rapidly reroute, land and service aircraft during unexpected contingencies.

HURREVAC Launch 🌀

The 33rd FW launched F-35A Lightning II aircraft to relocate ahead of Hurricane Isaias last Thursday, Oct. 8. All units from around the wing participated in executing the evacuation and ensuring the operation was smooth and successful.

🚨FYSA: Stay informed and keep an eye on the Eglin AFB page for weather updates on Tropical Storm Isaias.

‼️ WEATHER UPDATE: Eglin is now in HURCON 3.

Destructive winds of 58 mph or greater are possible within 48 hours.

The following hours apply Thursday, Oct. 8:

• The Child Development Centers will close at noon.
• The hospital and pharmacies will close at 2 p.m.
• Emergency operations, labor and delivery, and all inpatient services will remain available.
• The commissary and BX will close at 2 p.m.

Airmen and base employees should contact their supervisors for reporting instructions.

HURCON levels describe the installation’s hurricane readiness. Continue to follow Eglin Air Force Base for installation updates.

Welcome, Bundeswehr! 🇩🇪

On Oct. 5th, the 85th Fighter Group, under the 33rd Fighter Wing, welcomed the first German F-35A Lightning II to Fort Smith, Arkansas. This arrival officially launches the next phase of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, strengthening bilateral training and reinforcing our commitment to global security alongside our NATO allies.

Heads up, commuters! 🚗

From Oct. 5 – Nov. 13, inbound traffic at the Northwest Gate (33rd Fighter Wing gate) will be redirected to the Haul Road Gate (search pit) from 6 to 9 a.m. as part of a trial to ease traffic congestion.

Afternoon outbound access at the Northwest Gate will also end Oct. 5.

Nomads put readiness in stride 🏃‍♂️

Kicking off the fall season with a little competition! Airmen from across the 33rd FW hit the flight line this morning for a 5K - emphasizing fitness, readiness, and unit pride. From start to finish, squadrons brought the energy and showed off their spirit!
