A big THANK YOU to Graber's Ace Hardware - El Dorado, KS for the donation of carbon monoxide and smoke detectors! Your generosity will help keep residents in our community safe!

We are currently seeking donations from local businesses and community partners to help us improve fire and carbon monoxide safety throughout our community. We would like to establish a supply of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors that we can provide to families and individuals who need them. These detectors may be used during fire department visits, community outreach events, fire prevention activities and when our personnel identify a home that does not have adequate working alarms.

We are asking local businesses if they would consider making a donation of:
• Smoke detectors
• Carbon monoxide detectors
• Combination smoke/CO detectors
• Financial donations in the form of gift cards

If you are interested in donating, please contact Firefighter Nick Poe at [email protected] or call the Department at 321-9100 ext. 200.

With the theme “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower” this year, we focused on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer. As we wrap up Fire Prevention Week, we wanted to provide you with these safety tips.

We've been enjoying visiting elementary schools in El Dorado this week for Fire Prevention Week. Yesterday Circle Oil Hill Elementary was among our stops. We talked about charging batteries and devices correctly, smoke detectors, evacuation routes, calling 911 and more. We also showed the students what we look and sound like in all of our gear, as well what some of our tools are used for.
