🎀🌳 A NEW CHAPTER FOR MVSD — TOGETHER WE BELONG! ❤️

A little rain made our new green space even greener! 🌿 On Wednesday, October 21, Mountain View School District celebrated a historic milestone with the ribbon cutting of our Future District Office and District Green Space!

It was an afternoon filled with music, Mt. View spirit, community pride, and a first look at what's to come!

🎶 Our talented Twin Lakes Advanced Band kicked off the festivities with an energetic performance that included Seven Nation Army, while our amazing Baker and Twin Lakes SPARK Cheer teams kept spirits high throughout the celebration!

🌳 Claire Robinson of Amigos de los Ríos joined our Board of Education for the ceremonial planting of a Ginkgo biloba tree, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and a greener future for MVSD.

🏅 A special plaque dedication recognized the current MVSD Board of Education and District administration, whose names will be permanently displayed at the future District Office. We were also honored to welcome former Superintendent Dr. Lillian Maldonado-French, who helped lead MVSD during the passage of our district's first two school bonds in 2016 and 2020.

✂️ Following the official ribbon cutting, guests took "Our First Lap Together" around the newly opened walking path, with our SPARK Cheerleaders lining the route and cheering everyone on!

🏗️ Guests also enjoyed guided tours of the future District Office, getting a preview of the new Boardroom, staff courtyards, professional development spaces, and additional improvements underway.

But this project is about much more than a new building! With plans for outdoor recreation, environmental learning, family workshops, student activities, and community engagement, this space represents our commitment to creating facilities that directly serve our district students, families, staff, and MVSD community.

A heartfelt thank you to our Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Raymond Andry, former Superintendent Dr. Maldonado-French, Amigos de los Ríos, our community partners, elected officials and representatives, staff, students, families and our OUTSTANDING MVSD staff for making this celebration so memorable!

Our Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) members are at the District Office today! Representing the student bodies of all our TK-8 schools, from grades 5 through 8, these students are exploring their leadership styles and giving a voice to student experience with Dr. Andry each month.

Mountain View's supper program is expanding districtwide to serve students at all schools across the district. The expansion is intended to increase access to evening meals for families and address student food needs.

🍎🏆 Celebrating MVSD’s 2026–27 Teacher of the Year!

Today, we proudly celebrated Jim Morentin of Parkview School, Mountain View School District’s 2026–27 Teacher of the Year, as he was recognized at the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s annual Teachers of the Year Awards Luncheon! 👏💙

Mr. Morentin has dedicated an incredible 36 years to education and currently teaches 7th- and 8th-grade mathematics at Parkview. Even after more than three decades in the classroom, he says he still finds “immense joy in teaching” and treasures the opportunity to connect with his students each day.

His teaching philosophy is rooted in kindness, patience and compassion — qualities he believes help educators truly reach their students. That commitment to building relationships while helping students grow is a wonderful reflection of what it means to Inspire Each Student to Succeed Every Day.

Today’s LACOE celebration brought together district Teachers of the Year from across Los Angeles County to recognize excellence and exemplary professionalism in public education. 🍎✨

Congratulations, Mr. Morentin! Thank you for your many years of service to Mountain View students and for continuing to bring such heart to the classroom. We are proud to have you representing Team Mt. View! 💙

🏔️💙 Celebrating Our 2026 Mountaineer Award Recipient!

Shortly before the start of the 2026-27 school year, Mountain View School District was proud to present Judge Alma D. Puente with the Mountaineer Award, the District’s highest honor, in recognition of her extraordinary service to our students, families and community.

Judge Puente’s commitment to expanding access to immigration legal services through our partnership with the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA) has made a meaningful difference for families throughout Mountain View. Her leadership and dedication reflect the very best of what it means to serve a community.

We’re also excited to see Judge Puente’s recognition featured by Mid Valley News! 📰

From welcoming students each morning to helping keep our campuses running smoothly throughout the day, we appreciate everything they have done to help us make it through the first five days of the 2026–27 school year! 🎉

☕🍳 Last week, before the first bell rang, Team Mt. View came together to kick off the 2026–27 school year! 💙✨

On Tuesday, August 11, MVSD employees gathered for our annual Breakfast Kick Off — a morning to reconnect, celebrate our team and begin the year united around our theme, Together We Belong.

We are especially grateful to the generous supporters who helped fund this employee appreciation event. Their support helped us welcome our staff back in a meaningful way and remind the people who serve our students and families every day just how much they are valued. 💙

And, of course, a great breakfast needs great food and coffee! ☕🍳 A special thank you to Guadalajara Xpress, led by owner and proud MVSD alumnus Marco Hernandez, for serving up a delicious breakfast for Team Mt. View, and to FFRUGAL Coffee for helping us start the morning with a much-needed caffeine boost!

The red carpet was out and the smiles were big as our students returned for another great school year! 🎒📚✨

We may be on Day 2, but we’re still celebrating all the special moments that made the first day of school memorable across Mountain View. From warm welcomes and excited reunions to those first walks into the classroom, there was plenty to celebrate as our students returned to campus.

We’re looking forward to all the learning, growing and connecting that 2026–27 will bring. Together We Belong! 💙
