Today our chapter would love to congratulate our County Attorney Christina Sanchez who shows us everyday what it’s like to be a strong progressive advocate for our community!

County Attorney Christina Sanchez joined counties around the nation in holding the Trump administration accountable for threats against critical FEMA funds if our elections department didn’t run voters through a federal citizenship check and plan a transition to hand-marked paper ballots and hand-audits of our county’s elections (a move that would cost our county possibly thousands of dollars).

In the Trump admin it’s clear: working-families last and special interest first.

We will be canceling this month’s meeting and instead focusing on this important event for Katy Padilla Stout for Congress hosted by Iliana Holguin.

If we flip TX-23 we can protect LGBTQIA+ rights, fight for every American has access to healthcare, raise the minimum wage, and ensure we elect a house speaker who cares about working-class families not PACS

I hope everything is going well and you all had a great month of April! There is so much going on in our country and being a member of an organization like Stonewall Democrats of El Paso is a good way to fight back against the regime.

May 7th Meeting at Tool Box Bar (506 N. Stanton Street) at 6:30 PM RSVP at http://www.stonewalldemsep.com

Officer Elections:
As you know from the last email we will be having elections for the following temporary officer positions: Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) during our May meeting so we can get back up to full speed and start planning our calendar out. As you might recall today April 30th at 12 AM is the last day to become a member to vote in these important elections. Ballots to vote will be sent the night of the meeting and as per our bylaws will be due 72 hours later (May 10th). Races with a single candidate will be voted on during the meeting via acclimation. Friendly reminder that while members have sent us an email seeking each of the positions that nomination open May 4th and close during our Meeting before we vote on each office.

During our meeting we will also be discussing the upcoming 2026 Democratic Convention, the 2026 Primary Run-off, and upcoming recruitment events

We’re proud to continue to stand with and we join her in demanding that Gov Abbott calls for a special election to fill the now vacant -23 seat.

Kathy is more than just our Democratic Nominee for -23 she is an every day Texas, a proud mama bear, and a community lawyer who’s on a mission to protect working-class families who have been forgotten by the current administration. We know when Katy wins, working-class Texans win, that’s why it’s incumbent that we fill the now open seat so Texans in TX-23 have a strong representative who cares deeply about them and their families.
