La Oficina de Nuevos Americanos del Condado de El Paso está desarrollando un Plan Estratégico de Bienvenida a Nivel Condado como parte de la iniciativa nacional Gateways for Growth. El objetivo es destacar cómo los residentes inmigrantes y multilingües fortalecen la economía y la comunidad de El Paso, así como identificar maneras de mejorar los programas, servicios y alianzas para todos. El Paso County's Office of New Americans is developing a Countywide Welcoming Strategic Plan as part of the national Gateways for Growth initiative. The goal is to highlight how immigrant and multilingual residents strengthen El Paso’s economy and community, and to identify ways to improve programs, services, and partnerships for everyone. To make this plan effective, we want input directly from you – nonprofits, service providers, community organizations, and residents who work with or serve diverse communities.

In partnership with United Way of El Paso County, this will be an interactive listening session where you can share your experiences and ideas. We want to hear about the work already happening in your organization, any challenges people face accessing County services, and your suggestions for making El Paso more welcoming. Everyone’s perspective is valuable as we seek to strengthen coordination across departments so that all residents (including foreign-born, non-citizens, and multilingual individuals) can access the support they need and contribute fully.

Today, we attended the USCIS Naturalization Ceremony celebrating 69 individuals officially becoming United States citizens.

We were especially excited to celebrate one of our own students from our virtual citizenship classes who naturalized today. Moments like these remind us why this work matters.

ONA was also present providing U.S. flag pins and gathering feedback from newly naturalized citizens on ways we can continue encouraging and motivating others to pursue citizenship.

Congratulations to all of today’s new Americans!

Hoy asistimos a la Ceremonia de Naturalización de USCIS celebrando a 69 personas que oficialmente se convirtieron en ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos.

Nos emocionó especialmente celebrar a una de nuestras estudiantes de las clases virtuales de ciudadanía, quien hoy logró naturalizarse. Momentos como estos nos recuerdan por qué este trabajo es tan importante.

La Oficina de Nuevos Americanos también estuvo presente entregando pines de la bandera de los Estados Unidos y recopilando comentarios de los nuevos ciudadanos sobre cómo podemos seguir motivando y apoyando a más personas en el proceso de naturalización.

Late post… but still one worth celebrating.
Last week, the Office of New Americans hosted our Civic Engagement Celebration recognizing participants from our English and Citizenship classes, including parents participating through our school partnerships and County employees from the first PACE citizenship class cohort.
What started as conversations and ideas became a reality thanks to the support of school districts, parent liaisons, instructors, volunteers, community partners, and our incredible ONA team.
We were honored to welcome participants from across El Paso County, from the westside and Anthony/Vinton area, to central El Paso, the northeast, Montana Vista, Fabens, Tornillo, and beyond.
For many participants, this was their first time visiting the El Paso County Courthouse. It was a reminder that civic engagement can begin with something as simple — and powerful — as creating welcoming spaces for people to learn, connect, and participate.
Thankful to everyone who helped make this celebration possible.
