The W.H. Burges High School Purple and Gold Club
This is a fan group of Burges High School Teachers,Alumni and Burges Family.
Our goal is to provide an infusion of Burges Pride into our 2010-11 students' Athletic and Extra-curricular activities.

Winter sports are starting up. Girls Basketball crushed Ysleta to start the season 58-13. Swimming has been going strong for a couple of weeks now. Golf also have had a couple of tournaments. Boys BBall has a home game vs.Horizon nov 16. Wrestling will be taking part in a warm up tourney at Franklin this weekend. Exciting times in the switch of the seasons
The Volleyball team was defeated in straight sets by Chapin. 25-17, 25-22, 25-18. Illiana Ramirez led Burges with 7 kills 8 assists 2 aces. Sarah Villa added 5 kills to her 14 digs and 1 ace. Chapin also defeated the Freshman and JV squads. Up next for the Lady 'Stangs is Irvin at Burges on Tuesday.
The Football Mustangs had a tough time at Mustang Stadium losing to Chapin 49-6. Memo Serrano scored the lone TD for the Mustangs. Next up for the Mustangs is Irvin at Rocket Stadium next Friday.
The Tennis Team Mercy ruled El Paso 10-0 to finish a undefeated District Championship and kept their #18 state ranking in 4a Texas. Playoff information will be following shortly. Coach Spivey and the Team presented the trophy to Dr. Woods at the pep assembly on Friday. The pep assembly featured an appearance by Arizona Cardinal #19 John Skelton
Mustang Volleyball is on a roll. After defeating Austin and Andress last week, on Tuesday they beat Jefferson in 5 games to move into a tie for fourth in District. A battle with Chapin at home on Friday night looms large for the Lady Mustangs

Our excellent Fine Arts programs at Burges got press again. This article promotes the upcoming Choir concert featuring songs from musicals. The concert is the Thursday of Homecoming week, October 28th

The Football team beat Austin on a last second field goal by Jason Buford, 31-28. That win put them at 1-1 in District 2-3 overall. The usual offensive suspects, Mondarius Turner and Omar Gomez led the way for the Mustangs. This Friday the team travels to Batty-Simang Stadium to take on Jefferson.
The volley ball team lost a heart breaker to El Paso on Friday. There were several match and game points opportunities but eventually the Mustangs lost in 5 Sets. This Tuesday come out to Mustang Gym for Andress. Friday will be at Austin.
