The sky put on quite the light show early this morning!
As a reminder, there is NO safe place outdoors during a thunderstorm. If you hear thunder, you are close enough for lightning to strike. Take shelter inside as soon as you hear or see evidence of a thunderstorm. If you are hiking, start heading towards your vehicle immediately.

Stay safe out there!

Friday's field journal entry from Ranger Cottontail was of a wild tepary bean! If you had been there when Ranger Lydia found this plant growing along the trail, you would have seen her nerdy happy dance because she had never found them growing in the park before. These ancient wild plants were once cultivated as a part of the "three sisters" agricultural method but were replaced by other higher yielding beans later.
