epfdexplorers.com The EPFD Explorer Program is a youth-based organization within the EPFD that focuses on fire service exploring.
The organization allows teens and young adults ages 14-21 to see, experience, and train on many aspects of typical firefighter duties. This includes everything from emergency medical procedures, to placing ladders, to (eventually) live fire training. The intent is to allow the participants the opportunity to see what being a firefighter is “all about” before committing to a career in the fire serv

The El Paso Fire Department & El Paso Fire Fighters Local 51 are kicking off the MDA Boot Drive tomorrow. Collection points will be set up at Hawkins & Viscount and Sunland Park & Mesa. Come join me at the east side location from 12-4 to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association & maybe get a prize!

Sometimes our equipment is as important as our people and there are many jobs we would struggle to do without it. Today the EPFD Explorers learned about various types of stretchers, the stair chair, and even got an impromptu introduction to the rescue (ambulance) and the ladder truck. Thanks to Fire Station #5, LT Jerry Lyles, CPT Chris Zapata and their crews for lending a hand with today’s training.
