ICE has finally done the humane thing and released Andrea Pedro Francisco, allowing her to get the surgery she desperately needs.
They denied the seriousness of her case and waited four months to release her.
The inspector general needs to investigate this and Camp East Montana needs to be shut down.
Minnesota woman with worsening ovarian cyst released from ICE detention in El Paso
“Now that I know I'm going home, I think first of my family, of seeing my family again,” Andrea Pedro Francisco, who spent nearly four months in ICE detention in El Paso, said in a statement. Doctors have said she is in need of surgery for a growing ovarian cyst.

Congress has spoken.
The House and the Senate have both voted on a war powers resolution to end the illegal, costly war that Trump and Netanyahu started in Iran.
His terrible judgment has gotten American service members killed, created chaos and made the price of gas skyrocket.
End the war now.

Republicans' One Big Beautiful Bill already kicked millions of Americans off their healthcare coverage.
That wasn't enough for Trump and Co. as they’re now moving to remove people with cancer from their coverage.

What should be a milestone celebration of our country is turning into a Trump rally.
On YOUR dime.

In the eight times I’ve been to Camp East Montana to conduct oversight, the conditions of the facility have only deteriorated. There remains a failure to meet federal standards for access to appropriate medical care and other basic services at this $1.24 billion place that is a purgatory for human beings held there.
I’m grateful organizations like the ACLU of Texas and the Texas Civil Rights Project are undertaking this just cause.
As the lawsuit makes through our judicial system, I will continue to make my oversight visits and call for the permanent closure of Camp East Montana.

Today, I was proud to celebrate the completion of the Panorama Village First-Time Wastewater Project, a transformational investment made possible through President Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act.
Access to reliable wastewater infrastructure improves public health, protects our environment, and enhances quality of life for El Paso families.
Every community deserves access to these essential services, and I will continue fighting for federal investments that make a real difference in the daily lives of El Pasoans.

An overwhelming majority of El Pasoans support removing commercial traffic from BOTA; we’ve known this since GSA reported that 93% of the 12,000 El Pasoans who participated in public comment said so.
While I understand the concerns expressed by businesses who use BOTA for trade, CBP has repeatedly assured us that there is capacity and opportunity at the other land ports of entry in El Paso. Our community can maintain its commercial advantage while supporting what El Pasoans have made clear is a priority. We have to focus our energy on ensuring the other land ports are ready for this shift, and my hope is that the Chamber joins us in this effort.

Instances of people impersonating immigration agents increased by at least SIX times the yearly average in 2025.
I again renew my calls to pass the VISIBLE Act, that would be a small step toward improving credibility and public safety.

I’m deeply honored to receive Annunciation House’s Voice of the Voiceless award. To be recognized by an outstanding organization that does such meaningful work for our community is incredibly humbling.
Our country and our community were shaped by immigrants in search of a better life for themselves and their children. The work Annunciation House and countless other organizations do to fight for human dignity and justice is inspiring and a source of hope. This recognition is so meaningful to me.
My work wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the incredible team I am privileged to work with in El Paso and in Washington, D.C. Their dedication and passion to the work we do is equally inspiring. I’m grateful to all the volunteers, lawyers, humanitarians and Americans who are fighting for a better world for everyone.
May our efforts to help immigrants awaken compassion in others and encourage them to join the important work we are all doing.
