We would like to take a minute and thank all of the departments that came and offered mutual aid. We used over 100,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. The cause and origin are still yet to be determined. We could not have done this without the help of our neighboring departments. We also value the support of our community. Also to clarify, this is no longer Arkansas Reclamation, it is also not Waste Management, this is operated by Waste Connections. Thank you all again. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed holiday weekend.

A large fire at the Arkansas Reclamation building in White County sent thick smoke into the air for hours Thursday morning, drawing responses from multiple fire departments.

Be extremely cautious with the county roads. We have experienced flash flooding in the overnight hours. Several roads are flooded and washed out. Turn around, don’t drown. The county road department is on their way to check things out.

If your home or business has sustained damage as a result of the recent storms, White County Emergency Management asks that you please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PLFWLDG to fill out an initial assessment survey. While flash flood waters and the Little Red River are receding, White River will continue to rise over the next several days, so this assessment will remain active until the conclusion of the event.

There is a tree down with power lines wrapped around it on Brock Rd. The road will be closed for a while. There is also trees down on hwy 5. The FD has cleared them off to the side but debris is all over. Also many roads in our district are covered in water. Please use caution if you have to get out.

CONTROLLED BURNS

As the weather is warming up and people are getting outside more, we get more calls about burning. So here’s useful information on how to avoid the fire department
showing up if you don’t want them too.

Call White County 911/Dispatch Center non emergency number and report your burn. It’s a very easy process with simple questions to answer.

Why call and report the burn?

Because if someone calls 911 reporting a fire, the dispatcher will check to make sure there isn’t a reported burn in the area. If the burn is reported they will NOT dispatch the fire department.

So if the fire department arrives it means that the burn was not reported properly and someone called it in. It doesn’t mean we have to put the fire out, however we do have to do our due diligence and make sure that everything is ok.

We’re not looking to get anyone jammed up on these calls, we are simply answering a 911 call and if everything is okay when can shake hands and all go about our lives.

If there’s any questions please feel free to reach out. We would much rather help you find the information you’re looking for than to show up when not needed.

Today is , a reminder that knowing how to save a life—especially our furry friends—can make all the difference. While having to administer CPR to your pet can be terrifying, being prepared can help you act calmly and confidently in an emergency.

Stay Calm:
1️⃣ Breathe: Take a few deep breaths to steady yourself. Focus on the feeling of the air filling your lungs.
2️⃣ Delegate: If there are bystanders, assign them tasks like finding the nearest emergency vet.
3️⃣ Focus: Keep your mind clear. Concentrate on the steps ahead and stay in the moment.

When to Start CPR:
🐾 Your pet isn’t responding
🐾 Your pet isn’t breathing
🐾 You can’t feel a heartbeat or pulse

How to Perform CPR:
Compressions:
❤️ Position your pet on their side.
❤️ Deliver 120 compressions per minute (2 per second).
❤️ For every 30 compressions, give 2 breaths.

Breaths:
❤️ Close your pet’s mouth and seal it with your fingers.
❤️ Cover their nose with your mouth and give 2 breaths—enough to make their chest rise.
❤️ Check for a heartbeat after 2 minutes. If there’s no pulse, continue.

When to Stop CPR:
🐾 Your pet starts breathing and responding
🐾 You reach the vet clinic and they take over
🐾 You can’t continue physically
🐾 Your pet starts breathing but is still unconscious

Recovery Position:
Place your pet’s head to the side, slightly tilting down (unless there’s head trauma).

Compression Techniques:
🐶 Medium to Large Dogs: Compress one third of the chest depth.
🐱 Small Dogs/Cats: Use your thumb and fingers for compression, or compress directly over the heart.

Stay prepared and know that you can make a difference in your pet's life! ❤️
