The USDA has confirmed a case of New World Screwworm in South Texas. While currently isolated, this underscores the importance of vigilance and coordination to protect Texas’ livestock industry and food supply.
Early detection is one of the most effective tools we have to prevent further spread. My office is working closely with federal, state, and local partners to ensure ranchers, producers, and communities have timely information and resources.
Report suspected cases immediately and learn more at screwworm.gov.

Ensuring the public has a voice in important decisions requires ongoing engagement. Since 2021, I've worked with TCEQ to bring three public hearings on Marathon Refinery permitting matters to El Paso, creating opportunities for residents, local organizations, and public officials to ask questions, share concerns, and be heard.
That effort helped bring more local stakeholders into the conversation, including El Paso County, whose participation contributed to the decision to grant a contested case hearing.

School districts across Texas, including many here in West Texas, are facing uncertainty as projected funding levels under HB 2 continue to shift.
Yesterday, I sent a letter to TEA seeking greater transparency on these funding projections and asking the agency to use the authority already provided under HB 2 to address any unintended impacts on our schools.
Our students, educators, and communities deserve clear answers and funding they can rely on as they plan for the future.

Awareness and survivor support can change lives.
Proud to have joined , local nonprofits, and community leaders to highlight investments in organizations working every day to combat human trafficking and support survivors across Texas.
Thank you to Paso Del Norte Center of Hope, United Against Human Trafficking, Unbound Now, and the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence for the critical work you do to help survivors heal and rebuild their lives.
By continuing to invest in prevention, education, and survivor services, we can help make sure individuals and families across our communities are protected, supported, and connected to the resources they need.

El Paso now has direct representation on the Texas Transportation Commission for the first time in more than a decade.
Honored to join the El Paso Chamber and the Mobility Coalition last week for a conversation with Commissioner Pat Gordon alongside local leaders and community partners.
Transportation decisions shape everything from trade and freight mobility to economic growth in our border region, and Commissioner Gordon understands those realities firsthand. Grateful for his leadership and commitment to keeping El Paso’s voice front and center in those conversations. El Paso Chamber Texas Department of Transportation
