Congratulations to Tech Sergeant Shelby Bibb — Space Base Delta 3’s May Knight of the Month.
Serving as the Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) Section Chief, TSgt Bibb is essential to the safety and tactical readiness of Los Angeles Air Force Base. He goes beyond standard annual requirements by ensuring every defender and service member is confident, qualified, and prepared to handle weapons under intense pressure. Bibb also oversees the installation’s armories and weapons maintenance, maintaining absolute accountability and keeping equipment flawlessly mission-ready for SBD 3.
When he isn’t securing the armory or is out on the range, Bibb is a dedicated family man who loves relaxing at home with his wife and two kids. Whether he’s treating TV binge-watching like a competitive sport or hitting the trails for a much-needed hike in the sun, he knows how to recharge. And if you’re wondering where he gets his cool under pressure, it might just be in his blood: fun fact, he’s related to the legendary Johnny Cash!
Thank you, TSgt Bibb, for your dedication and for strengthening SBD 3’s mission to deliver resilient infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and provide support services that empower our entire base community.

LOS ANGELES — U.S. Space Force Col. Andrew Dermanoski, commander of Space Base Delta 3, joined distinguished guests at a diplomatic reception hosted at the official residence of the Consul General of Japan. The event commemorated the anniversary of Operation Tomodachi (friendship) and the Japan Self‑Defense Force’s 71st birthday, highlighting the enduring partnership between the United States and Japan.
Japan’s Defense Minister, Shinjirō Koizumi, delivered remarks emphasizing the strength of the Japan‑U.S. alliance and Japan’s renewed focus on national defense amid evolving challenges in the Indo‑Pacific region.
Japan faces a most severe and complex security environment of the post‑war era,” Minister Koizumi said, noting the nation’s efforts to secure resources, expand funding, and enhance missile capabilities. “As a result, next year’s budget exceeds $60 billion dollars, our highest ever.
Col. Dermanoski highlighted the strategic importance of Los Angeles Air Force Base in fostering international collaboration. “Los Angeles is the historic heart of the aerospace industry; with new defense tech start-ups that continue to push the frontiers, this is the place our allies come to see innovation at work,” he said. Dermanoski also reflected on the deepening ties between allied commands and Japan’s diplomatic community. “The Operation Tomodachi event at the Consulate General’s residence reminded us of the amazing work we can accomplish together, and we look forward to building the future of space with our friends.”
Guests described the reception as a meaningful demonstration of unity and shared resolve, underscoring the importance of cooperation, readiness, and collective security in an increasingly complex global environment. (USSF Story by Walter, USSF photos by Van Ha.)

Congratulations to Airman 1st Class Giden Julius Tabanao — Space Base Delta 3’s February Knight of the Month.
As a Biomedical Equipment Technician, A1C Tabanao plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and reliability of essential medical equipment, directly supporting the readiness of Los Angeles Air Force Base personnel. His expertise ensures service members receive timely, dependable care, reinforcing Space Base Delta 3’s commitment to their health and mission effectiveness.
Outside of duty hours, Tabanao enjoys spending time outdoors—gardening during the day and stargazing at night. His passion for gardening grew from helping his mother care for her roses and succulents, while his stepfather sparked his interest in astronomy.
Thank you, Airman First Class Tabanao, for your dedication and for strengthening SBD 3’s mission to deliver resilient infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and provide support services that empower our entire base community.
