We celebrated Jewish American Heritage Month just as our Muslim community faced a nightmare in San Diego last week.
This senseless hatred has bound the Jewish and Muslim experience together throughout history, and we are heartbroken by this recent act of Islamophobia. We continue praying for the victims and their families, the heroes who stepped in to minimize the loss of life, and the Muslim community across California.
California’s diversity is at the root of what makes this state so special. We must continue striving to bridge divides, approach differences with empathy and understanding, and celebrate the many cultures that enrich the world around us.

Special evening with Arnold Schwarzenegger and others honoring the legend Rabbi Marvin Hier through my friend Jon Kean’s new film, ”The Hollywood Rabbi” which just opened the Jewish Film Festival!
The documentary showcases Rabbi Hier’s life work as leader of the Simon Wiesenthal Center that brought accountability to N**i war criminals as it pivoted to public educational efforts to ensure that the history and lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten. His legacy in Los Angeles is most acutely felt with the incredible Museum of Tolerance that inspires and educates.
