Hydrant flushing will begin, Monday, October 26th at 8:00 AM

Routine hydrant flushing will take place to maintain system reliability and water quality. This temporary maintenance may affect water clarity and pressure.

What to expect & recommended precautions:

Water may appear discolored or cloudy

Avoid washing white laundry on your first load- discoloration may cause staining

Remove sink aerators before use; run cold water taps for approximately 1 minute until water runs clear, then replace aerators

You may notice reduced water pressure during flushing

We appreciate your patience and proactive efforts to minimize inconvenience. This work supports the safety and sustainability of our water system.

Village of Elberta Residents

Please be advised! Beginning 10/15/26 contractors working on behalf of DTE Energy will be performing gas line installation work within the Village. The contractor vehicles will display the name Roese.

As work progresses, side streets along the construction corridor will be closed one at a time for approximately two hours. Residents should follow posted signage and temporary barricades directing traffic around active work areas.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as these infrastructure improvements are completed.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village of Elberta Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting and public hearing on October 7th , 2026 at 6:15 p.m. at the Community Building located at 401 First Street, Elberta, MI 49628, to consider the adoption of the ordinance to amend the zoning ordinance in its entirety and to update the zoning map.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the entire text of the proposed Ordinance may be obtained from the Village Clerk, at times to be arranged with the Clerk and will be available at said hearing for public inspection. The Village of Elberta Planning Commission and Village of Elberta Village Council reserve the right to make changes to the above proposed ordinance at or following the public hearing.
All interested persons are invited to be present and speak or provide written comments at the aforesaid time and place. Written comments concerning the proposed amendment will be received by mail; email; or in person (at the addresses below) any time prior to this public hearing, and may further be submitted to the Planning Commission at the public hearing.
The Village will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities at the hearing upon five (5) days' notice to the Village Clerk. Now Hiring: Part-Time Treasurer Village of Elberta
The Village of Elberta is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time position:
• Treasurer (16 hrs/week) — appointed official
These roles are essential to the Village’s financial and administrative operations and must adhere to Michigan laws, the General Law Village Act, GAAP, GASB, and all relevant financial and tax regulations.
Treasurer Minimum Qualifications: Degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution – Minimum 2 years of relevant experience – Proficiency in office systems, Excel, accounting/bookkeeping software – Strong planning, organization, and judgment skills – Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, officials, and the public – Must be bondable and obtain Notary Public certification within 1 month
Preferred (Treasurer): Experience with BS&A software – Municipal accounting background – Knowledge of Michigan statutes and local government operations
Compensation: Based on experience.
