📚🚀 There's an Impostor in the Library! 👀

Mrs. Martin is turning reading into a team competition at EMS, and our students are putting their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills to work!

With an Among Us-inspired theme, students are competing in color teams to earn points through their individual AR goals, team challenges, and bonus missions. Each student has an opportunity to contribute to their team's success!

🔎 Current Mission: Find the Impostor!

Students are given groups of four vocabulary words. Three words share a hidden connection, but one was an impostor!

Their mission? Identify the impostor, figure out what the other three words had in common, and explain their reasoning with evidence.

It sounds like a game, but there's some serious learning happening! Students are practicing vocabulary, making connections between words, thinking critically, and explaining why their answers make sense. Those are all skills that help students become stronger, more thoughtful readers.

We love seeing Mrs. Martin find creative ways to make reading engaging while keeping the focus on what matters most: student growth! 📖💛

🎃🎶 Things are getting a little spooky in the EMS choir room!

Dr. Moe’s 6th grade choir is getting into the Halloween spirit with a festive tune! 👻

We love hearing these young Mustangs find their voices, build their confidence, and have a little fun along the way.

🌊 Ancient Problems, Hands-On Solutions!

How did early civilizations manage flooding and make sure their crops had enough water to grow? Mrs. Allee’s 6th grade Social Studies students put their problem-solving skills to work to find out!

Students participated in a hands-on lab exploring how ancient Mesopotamians used irrigation systems to control water from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. By experimenting with water flow and irrigation, students got a firsthand look at the engineering challenges faced by some of the world’s earliest civilizations.

Thousands of years later, our 6th graders are discovering that some of history’s greatest innovations started with people finding creative solutions to everyday problems!

Learning history by bringing it to life! 💛📚

Athletic Update 10/16/26

Girls Basketball tryouts will wrap up this afternoon. Tryouts will be from 3:30-5:00, girls will stay after school.

Boys Basketball tryouts will wrap up this evening. Tryouts will be from 5:00-6:30, boys will go home after school.

All winter practices will start on Monday. Girls basketball and wrestling will be from 3:30-5:30, and boys basketball will be 5:30-7:30. All participants must have a current physical on file to compete.

Congratulations to XC for finishing up their season last night at the Tri-County Conference Meet. We had multiple athletes finish in the top 15:

It's that time again! Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated next week, October 19-23.

What is Red Ribbon Week? It is a way for students and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs and pledge to make healthy decisions. Students and staff are given an opportunity to show their personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle through the symbol of the red ribbon. Students will be given red ribbons on Monday and will be encouraged to wear them all week.

Students are also encouraged to participate in the dress-up days. The theme this year is "Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug-Free."

Athletic Updates 10/15/26

Boys and Girls XC will wrap up their season tonight as they host the Tri-County Conference Meet at the Eldon Golf Club. Our athletes will be bussed over to the course at 2:15. Running events will start at 4:00.

Girls Basketball- Tryouts will be today from 3:30-5:30 and tomorrow from 3:30-5:00. Any athlete participating must have a current physical on file.

Boys Basketball- Tryouts will be today from 5:30-7:30 and tomorrow from 5:00-6:30. Any athlete participating must have a current physical on file. All boys will go home after school and must return by the start of tryouts.

Winter practices for basketball and wrestling will begin on Monday, October 19th. Girls Basketball will be after school until 5:30, Boys Basketball will be 5:30-7:30, and Wrestling will be after school until 5:30. Parents please drop off/pick up your athlete at the back of the middle school.

🤼 MUSTANG WRESTLING SEASON IS ALMOST HERE! 🤼

Calling all future Mustang wrestlers! Whether you're returning to the mat or interested in trying wrestling for the first time, we'd love to have you join the team!

📅 First Practice: Monday, October 19

💪 No tryouts required! All students interested in wrestling are welcome to participate, regardless of experience.

Families can check out the Middle School Wrestling website and calendars for important dates, schedules, and information about the upcoming season.
