Last evening, members of Pasquotank Providence Fire Department, Pasquotank-Newland Volunteer Fire Department Station 9, Inter-County Volunteer Fire Department, Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications and Pasquotank County EMS, participated in a simulated “fire drill” at Avangrid Wind Farm.

Responding to an incident involving a wind turbine presents unique challenges, especially when operating in remote locations. This training provided an opportunity to test response times, evaluate mapping and navigation to turbine locations, review company emergency procedures, and strengthen coordination between responding agencies and Avangrid personnel.

Training like this is essential by practicing together before an emergency occurs, our first responders can better prepare for the unique challenges they may encounter in the field.
