Carter County ARES Members participated in a Winter Storm Communications tabletop exercise at the Carter County EOC this evening.
The workgroups were tasked with building an initial communication plan based on failures and outages.
Resource allocation and management are key when planning for these types of events.

Members of Carter County and Washington County ARES, supported by the Johnson City Amateur Radio Association's Communicatons unit setup at Watauga Lake for the four-day Bassmaster's college tournament.
Members will be providing Auxcomm service to all participating public safety agencies during the event from the Incident Command Post.
CSU-100 is a regional asset available by request from any authorized government entity within Northeast Tennessee.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Ridings K4MTR as Carter County ARES Emergency Coordinator.
Mark succeeds EC Kyle Fortenberry who is moving to Texas.
Gary Smith KQ4PGX has been appointed Assistant Emergency Coordinator for the team.
Congratulations to Mark and Gary on their new positions.

Recognition is always welcome for a job well done. This commendation for our efforts during Helene is greatly appreciated. In addition, each team member who worked the EOC Radio Room was awarded an individual certificate.
It is displayed in the EOC effective today.

I regret to inform you that Ed Yarwood AE2EY, District 9 Assistant Emergency Coordinator has become a Silent Key.
Ed was a resident of Unicoi County and served as ADEC in District 9 since 2021. He was instrumental in the progress of the Carter County ARES team development and its successes. Ed was active in the Carter County club, was a VE and Official Emergency Station appointee.
It was a privilege to work with Ed and he will be missed by all of us in Northeast Tennessee.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
