Because of the wonderful response and success of last year’s tree lighter nominations, we’re excited to bring it back — and once again, we want to hear from YOU!

Who do you think should have the honor of lighting Carter County’s historic Fraser fir at our annual tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 21st? It could be someone who has made a difference in our community, gone above and beyond for others, or simply holds a special place in the hearts of Carter County.

📅 Nominations will be accepted through the end of the day on Sunday, October 25th, with the selected nominee announced the following week. Please keep in mind that while we are sure there will be many well-qualified nominees, unfortunately, we can choose just one.

🚨 Attention! 🚨

The 2026 community health assessment (CHA) survey from the TN Department of Health closes October 31.

If you're someone who thrives on competition, here are some stats for you:

As of 10/7, Carter County is in second place for surveys filled out, but Hawkins County is coming up fast. Let's go crazy and see if we can beat Washington County! 👀

Surveys completed by each county:
Washington: 780 (+9 from last week)
Carter: 373 (+11 from last week)
Hawkins: 345 (+49 from last week)
Greene: 336 (+9 from last week)
Johnson: 293 (+20 from last week)
Hancock: 267 (+3 from last week)
Sullivan: 249 (+11 from last week)
Unicoi: 172 (+16 from last week)

If you haven't filled it out yet, please do! This survey is conducted only once every two years and helps our local health council and associates improve care for our region by highlighting the most pressing needs of the community. This flyer is specific to Carter County, but anyone from the eight counties in our region can take the survey.

We'll add the link to the online survey in the comments, but if you want a paper survey you can stop by the Tetrick Community Center or the Recreation Center on Mill Street.
