❤️🖤 Learning in Action in Second Grade! 🐾📚

Our First Quarter Family Engagement Event continued with an exciting look inside our second-grade classrooms!

Families had the opportunity to see our Bullpups in action as they strengthened their foundational literacy skills through the Three-Part Drill and sharpened their mathematical thinking by subitizing dice patterns—recognizing quantities without counting each dot! 🎲✏️

These engaging activities highlight the intentional, meaningful instruction happening in our classrooms every day as students build confidence, fluency, and essential academic skills!

A special thank-you to our wonderful second-grade teachers for making learning come alive and to our families for taking the time to experience the magic happening inside our classrooms! ❤️

❤️🖤 Learning in Action at New Highland Elementary! 🐾

We were excited to welcome our families into our classrooms for our First Quarter Family Engagement Event!

Our kindergarten students had the opportunity to showcase their growing literacy skills as families observed Orton-Gillingham instruction in action! From practicing letter sounds to building foundational reading skills, our youngest Bullpups demonstrated just how much learning is happening each day! 📚✏️

There is something special about opening our classroom doors and allowing families to experience firsthand the meaningful instruction taking place at NHES.

Thank you to our families for partnering with us and to our incredible kindergarten teachers for building strong foundations for lifelong learning! ❤️

📣 New Highland Elementary PTO VP Voting Information! 🐾❤️🖤

New Highland families, we want to hear from YOU! We will have four opportunities for parents to vote for our new PTO Vice President (VP).

🗳️ Voting Opportunities:
📌 Thursday & Friday, October 22–23: During our Awards Ceremonies
📌 Tuesday, October 27: During the PTO Meeting at 5:00 PM
📌 Friday, October 30: During our Trunk or Treat from 5:00–7:00 PM

📢 When will the new PTO VP be announced?

The new PTO Vice President will be officially announced through ClassDojo on Monday, November 2nd. All candidates will be contacted privately on Sunday, November 1st, to be informed of the election results.

Reminder: Student Flu Shots Tomorrow!

Just a friendly reminder that students who returned a signed flu consent form will receive their flu shots tomorrow morning.

If you did not return a consent form, your child will NOT receive a flu shot.

If your child has been sick recently, has already received a flu shot over break, or if you have any concerns about them receiving the vaccine tomorrow, please reach out to me first thing in the morning or leave a message on my office phone.

🍬🍭 CANDY WAR IS COMING TO NEW HIGHLAND! 🍭🍬

Get ready for some sweet competition, Bullpups! 🐾❤️🖤

New Highland Elementary is hosting a Candy War to collect candy for our upcoming Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 30, from 5:00–7:00 PM! 🎃👻

🍬 Candy War Dates: Monday, October 19 – Thursday, October 29

🍭 How It Works: Each homeroom will compete to collect the most bags of candy! We will begin collecting candy in classrooms on Monday morning.

🍕 The Grand Prize: The homeroom that collects the most bags of candy by the end of the day on Thursday, October 29, will win a PIZZA PARTY on Friday, October 30! 🎉🍕

Let the sweetest competition begin! Which homeroom will come out on top? 🏆
