The Elk Grove Library is getting excited about its new location in the former Rite Aid Building at 9260 Elk Grove Blvd. as it will provide thousands of feet of extra space and the flexibility to meet the changing needs of the community. Schematic designs for the Elk Grove Library were presented to the City Council during their December 8 meeting and can be seen here: https://bit.ly/3J6wOlL

The history of the library dates back to the early 1900s when Elk Grove residents, led by Harriet Eddy, worked with the state librarian to establish the very first county branch library in California. Now, another new chapter begins for Elk Grove’s library branch. Join the City and Sacramento Public Library at Food Truck Mania this Wednesday at the Old Town Plaza from 5-8 p.m. and influence what’s available at the library when it moves just a half a mile down Elk Grove Boulevard to its new location at 9260 Elk Grove Boulevard (the former Rite Aid pharmacy). This past week has been a doozy! During uncertain times and with so many changes happening, things can get confusing, so we are here to make it clear and simple for you.
Here are three things to know:
1. More is better. More access. More content. More time. We have opened digital resources so that you aren't blocked due to fines, long overdue, or expired cards. We increased OverDrive limits from 30 checkouts to 60. We have also added supplemental resources from our existing databases and free resources from trusted vendors to our Remote Access webpage at saclibrary.org/remoteaccess.
All cards that expired January 1, 2019 - May 31, 2020, will to now expire June 2, 2020, including partner cards. If you call with an expired card, the date will be extended to June 2, 2020.
2. Don't have a library card? No worries! Apply online and get instant access to thousands of ebooks and audiobooks right from your computer, tablet or mobile phone.
Download apps like OverDrive, the classic app is best if you want access to more than the basic features.
Libby, the newest app is the easiest way to get started.
Hoopla, where you can borrow thousands of ebooks, audiobooks with no wait.
We also have hundreds of K-12 and adult ebooks and audiobooks on Tumblebooks.
3. Ancestry.com is allowing remote access through April 30. Try it today! History at your fingertips. What will you discover?
We hope this is helpful to you all. Join us online! Explore all the possibilities.
