We are kicking off our 1st Lunch & Learn at the Elkader Public Library with "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot. Pop in with your lunch to join us in discussing the book and the history surrounding this interesting time period.

Didn't finish the book? We still want to see you here! Lunch & Learn is more than a book club. It is a discussion of history and pop culture prompted by a particular book.

This Friday is the LAST FRIDAY in September--don't ask us how it happened, we're as shocked as you are--so that means we will be holding LAST FRIDAY TRIVIA during our Afterschool Games & Trivia Program starting at 2:00 PM.

The theme? Disney!

We look forward to seeing you on Friday to demonstrate your totally awesome Disney (and Pixar) knowledge in a series of questions to prove who can be the trivia master!

If you needed a reason to get a library card at the Elkader Public Library, consider all the cool new books you’ll get access to. Pictured here are just 3 of the over 50 items we’ve added this month, all available for checkout.

And the best part? Acquiring a library card is easy! Bring in a government issued ID along with something bearing your name and current address—most people choose a piece of mail, but it can’t be one that says “Household” or “Current Resident” on it—and complete a form that takes less 5 minutes to complete. We do all the hard work and presto! Library card!

We're excited to be featured this week in the Times-Register's piece about the Mahjong fun that's sweeping Clayton County!

Because in case you weren't aware, the Elkader Public Library currently hosts an afternoon Mahjong group from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Thursdays that is great for anyone interested in learning to play--and we seriously mean that!

But we also know that a late afternoon during the work week doesn't jive with everyone's schedule so we are making plans on how we can remedy that in the near future.
