🚨 TRANSLATION TUESDAY! 🚨
😂 Teen Slang Edition

Today’s word: LARPING

No, we’re not talking about dressing up as knights and battling dragons. 🐉⚔️

Apparently, the teenagers have a different use for this one!

📖 LARPING: Pretending to be something you’re not. Faking it. Being a poser.

💬 Example:
“Bro is LARPing!” — He’s acting like someone he’s not.

🤣 “HOLY LARP!” — Someone is REALLY putting on an act!

Parent Translation: If you hear your teenager say someone is LARPing, don’t start looking for swords and costumes. 😂

Parents, are you fluent in teenager yet, or are you still waiting for the translation manual?

👇 Drop a slang word you’ve heard lately! We might feature it next Tuesday!

👮 DID YOU KNOW?

Juvenile probation officers do a whole lot more than make sure kids follow the rules!

Between court appearances, school visits, family meetings, case management, and connecting youth with community resources, there’s rarely a dull moment.

Our work is about accountability, rehabilitation, and helping young people make better choices.

And yes, occasionally we need a translator to understand what the teenagers are talking about. 😂

As we near summer break from school, below is the Work Permit Requirements for youth. If you have questions, please contact us.

Work Permit Requirements

It is legal to work in Nevada beginning at age 14. However, the number of hours a minor may work are restricted until age 16, which is why some employers won't hire workers under 16.

A work permit is NOT required in the state of Nevada; however, some employers request one for insurance purposes. If that is the case, a work permit can be issued at the Juvenile Probation Office. A parent or guardian must be present to sign the application, and proof of the child’s birth must be provided. There is no fee for a work permit, and permits are issued immediately.

The work permit is employer- and duty-specific, so a person must be promised a job before obtaining one.
