On Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 08:17 hours, the Ellendale Fire Company was alerted to an MVC at DuPont Blvd just south of Redden Rd. in the Redden community.

Rescue 75 arrived to find a two vehicle MVC in the southbound lanes of US 113 with minor injuries. Vehicles were secured, one patient was transported via Ambulance A-75, and the scene was turned over to Delaware State Police.

While returning from this incident, the Ellendale Fire Company was alerted to a second MVC in the southbound lanes of US 113 approximately 1/2 mile north of the original scene with reported entrapment. Due to Ellendale’s ambulance already being committed to the prior accident, two additional ambulances from Georgetown EMS/Station 93 were dispatched to assist, along with an additional rescue truck from Georgetown Fire Company, paramedics from Sussex County Department of Public Safety, and Delaware State Police Aviation Section.

Rescue 75 arrived on location to find a two vehicle MVC with one injured patient confined under the dash of her vehicle. Crews made contact with the patient who was being assisted by local responders, stabilized the car, and proceeded to extricate the patient.

One patient was transported via ambulance to a local hospital while the DSP helicopter was utilized for flying the second patient.

Two Years Without You, Thomas 💙🚑

Tomorrow marks two years since we lost our brother, friend, and fellow first responder, Thomas “Tommy” Berry III.

Two years have passed, but the pain of losing you hasn’t gone away. Your name is still spoken, your stories are still told, and the impact you made on those around you continues to be felt every day.

Tommy gave his time, his heart, and his dedication to helping others. He was more than a firefighter he was a brother, a friend, and someone who made a difference in the lives of so many.

We remember the calls, the laughs, the long nights, and the good times. Most importantly, we remember Thomas.

Though two years have passed, you are still missed, still remembered, and still part of our fire family.

We think of your family often, and we hope to make them proud. We will continue to carry your name and keep your spirit alive with us on every call.

Never forgotten. Never alone. Always remembered.
Rest easy, brother.
