🚨October 20, 6-8pm. Public meeting on an SHA "stream restoration" project.
On Tuesday, October 20th, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will host a Public Open House event from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Centennial High School in Ellicott City, to provide community members with the opportunity to view proposed design concepts and provide feedback on its Upper Little Patuxent Stream Restoration Project.
Back in 2015, SHA completed a restoration project along approximately 4,250 feet of the Upper Little Patuxent River and an adjacent tributary. Unfortunately, following the project’s completion, the area experienced two unprecedented flood events associated with severe regional storms. While the restored floodplain successfully captured excess sediment and prevented downstream pollution during these storms, the accumulation of material and the physical force of the water created several site deficiencies. To restore site functionality with minimal environmental disruption, SHA is looking to initiate a series of targeted adaptive management measures through this project.
While there will be no formal presentation at the open house, SHA representatives will be on hand to answer questions and gather feedback.
