Meet Vinny!

Vinny is a wonderful dog who may be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he warms up, he's a great companion. He's truly a "dog's dog" and gets along with every dog he meets.

Vinny is currently available for adoption through the Gilmer County Animal Shelter.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Ellijay Paws In Need for partnering with the shelter and helping coordinate these photo sessions. We are excited to help showcase adoptable pets in our community and hopefully help them find loving homes.

Last week was a great week of TECC training with multiple agencies from across the area. Thank you to Valkyries Austere Medical Solutions for delivering an excellent course and helping us continue to sharpen our skills.

Correction... it may feel like Monday but ---->𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆! ☔ Looks like we are in for another rainy day here in Ellijay. That means slow down, allow extra travel time, and drive safely on those wet roads.

Ever wonder what a rainy day looks like around the fire department? While we continue responding to emergency calls like normal, rainy weather sometimes brings its own unique challenges...... like trees down across roadways.

Did you know the fire department is often responsible for cutting and removing trees when they block the roadway to help keep our community safe and traffic moving?

When we are not running calls, rainy days are also a great time for training. Yes, firefighters are always learning! Whether it is hands-on drills, in-person classes, or online training, we are constantly working to sharpen our skills so we are ready when you need us most.

Crews from Station 15 were honored to attend today's Memorial Day Service at Veterans Memorial Park. This beautiful memorial is a wonderful addition to our already beautiful city and serves as a lasting tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Today, we remember, honor, and thank those heroes and their families for their service and sacrifice.

It’s Friday, and as we head into Memorial Day weekend, we want to wish everyone a safe and meaningful holiday.

Enjoy time with family and friends, make great memories, and while you’re at it maybe take a moment to check the batteries in your
smoke alarms. 😉

Most importantly, let us not forget the true meaning behind this long weekend. Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
