This week, five Central County Emergency 911 employees traveled to Kansas City to attend the Fall Missouri Public Safety Communications Conference.

The conference offered great opportunities to learn, collaborate, and connect with fellow public safety professionals from around Missouri. From educational sessions to discussions on industry best practices, our team gained valuable insights to bring back to our center.

Of course, it wasn't all work! Tuesday night's networking event featured a costume contest and plenty of opportunities to build relationships with peers from across the state.

We're proud to support ongoing professional development and appreciate our team's commitment to excellence in public safety communications. 🚒🚑📞

🟡 September is National Preparedness Month! 🟡

Emergencies and disasters can happen when we least expect them. National Preparedness Month serves as an important reminder for individuals, families, and communities to take simple steps today that can make a big difference tomorrow.

Being prepared means having a plan, building an emergency kit, staying informed about local hazards, and knowing how to communicate with loved ones during an emergency. Whether it's severe weather, a power outage, a fire, or another unexpected event, preparedness helps reduce stress and improves safety when every second counts.

Take a few minutes to review your emergency plans, update your emergency supplies, and make sure your family knows what to do when disaster strikes. Preparedness isn't just a one-time task—it's an ongoing commitment to safety and resilience.

âś… Make a plan
âś… Build an emergency kit
âś… Stay informed
âś… Practice your plan

🎉 Congratulations to our four newest team members on successfully completing the Central County Emergency 911 Training Academy classroom phase!

During the eight weeks of classroom instruction, they completed the APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator Course, FEMA ICS-100, FEMA ICS-200, and earned their IAED/Priority Dispatch Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) certifications while building a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills required to serve our community and support first responders.

Their training included agency policies and procedures, professional communication, the CallWorks phone system, emergency and non-emergency call processing, location verification, CAD operations, EMD and EFD protocols, life-saving instructions, unit and district familiarization, local geography, incident documentation, responder safety, quality assurance, wellness, and scenario-based exercises designed to prepare them for real-world emergencies.

As part of the academy, they also spent time observing experienced call takers and dispatchers, gaining valuable operational insight and firsthand experience with the daily responsibilities of emergency communications professionals.

Having successfully completed the classroom portion of their training, all four are now paired with Communications Training Officers (CTOs) and have transitioned to the operations floor, where they have begun the practical, hands-on phase of their training.

The work of a public safety telecommunicator requires professionalism, critical thinking, attention to detail, and a commitment to serving both the public and emergency responders. Completing the academy is a significant milestone, and we congratulate these employees as they continue their journey toward becoming fully trained emergency communications professionals. 📞🚓🚑🚒

Today, we pause to remember the 25th anniversary of September 11th, 2001.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was forever changed. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 8 emergency medical technicians and paramedics who answered the call and gave their lives in service to others.

Today, we honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and fellow responders who continue to carry their memory.

As members of the fire and EMS community, we understand the meaning of answering the call when others need help. May we never forget those who answered that call on September 11th, and may we continue to honor their legacy through our own service. 🇺🇸🚒🚑🚔🕯️
