Last week, Pierce County’s Emergency Management Director and Field Director traveled to Michigan to participate in the 2026 Midwest Region V Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) Meeting with colleagues from FEMA Region V and emergency preparedness partners from across the Midwest.

The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to share ideas, learn from others, discuss best practices, and strengthen the partnerships that are essential during an emergency.

Radiological emergency preparedness requires ongoing training, collaboration, and coordination among many agencies and organizations. Opportunities like this help us bring valuable knowledge and new ideas back to Pierce County to continue improving our readiness to respond when it matters most.

We appreciate the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and work alongside our regional partners to keep our communities prepared! 🤝

September is recognized as National Preparedness Month, a time to encourage individuals, families, businesses, and communities to take proactive steps to prepare for emergencies and disasters.

Throughout Wisconsin, residents are encouraged to understand the hazards that may affect their communities, create an emergency plan, build a disaster preparedness kit, and stay informed about potential threats. Preparedness is a shared responsibility, and by working together, individuals, organizations, and all levels of government can help build safer, more resilient communities.

https://www.ready.gov/stand-ready is a great website with numerous resources and toolkits to help garner preparedness!
