TEMPORARY INTERUPTION OF SERVICE - WATER VALVE REPLACEMENT
The City of Ellsworth will begin tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 16th, the water valve replacement on the southeast side of town. The reason for installing water replacement shut-off valves is to control the flow of water or stop the flow of water for repairs or maintenance. There are three different areas in Ellsworth that need water shut-off valves replaced. This temporary interruption of service is unknown as to how long it is going to take. Thank you for your patience and pay attention for additional notices.

25 years ago I was working in my office at the old city hall. I received a phone call to turn on the TV… I will never forget the sick feeling I had that morning watching the towers fall & those in the plane crash that sacrificed their lives to save others. I’m sure many of you had that same feeling. I will never forget 9/11/2001 & I’m sure you won’t either. United We Stand is a very appropriate song for today.

Tonight, August 18th, you may see elected officials Mayor Colette Smythe, Mike Lewis, & Tonya Zitzloff out & about gathering information for a possible grant on removing Ash trees due to the Bore Ash disease. Ribbons may be placed on trees. Please do not remove the ribbons. Part-time intermittent employee Joe Deutsch, will also be helping.

Mayor Smythe has called an emergency meeting at 5pm tonight, Monday, August 17th, 2026, due to Public Safety for the residents of 6th Avenue between Oak Street & Maple Street, due to the numerous water main breaks. This emergency meeting will be held in the Ellsworth City Hall Council Chambers. 322 S Broadway Street, Ellsworth, MN 56129.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

Water restrictions for at least a week
NO excessive water usage such as watering lawns
NO filling swimming pools/refilling swimming pools
No street sweeping or hydrant flushing will occur
