Our team is hitting the classroom this weekend...but we know our K9s have everyone's hearts.

Enjoy photos from last weekend's practice and the Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade 😀

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we extend our gratitude to those who gave their lives protecting our freedoms and communities. We also recognize the families, friends, and fellow responders who carry their memory forward each day.

From all of us at Liam Search and Rescue, thank you to our fallen heroes. Your courage, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

All weekend long starting on Friday, members of our team attended Orion's Challenge in Ohio.

We are so proud of this group for seeking outside educational opportunities that will only better themselves and their K9 partners 👏

Looking forward to this weekend, as we will all be together again ❤️

Sunday was gorgeous for training 🙌

We got to work on our ground skills and all our K9 disciplines including our newest disciplines of shoreline and article.

Annually in May, the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) hosts the ACVO Service Animal Volunteer Eye Screening event, and BluePearl Pittsburgh Pet Hospital was once again the closest appointment site for our team.

This quick, free, and easy eye screening helps protect the vision of working K9s by allowing for early detection of eye changes and prevention of future issues.

This year, Chance, Bates, and Boomies attended their annual exams and already have their calendars marked for next year.

Chance and Bates both received outstanding reports with perfect vision and no concerns noted. Boomies’ exam, however, showed progression from last year’s findings. In addition to the cataract previously identified in her left eye, specialists found a cataract developing in the center of her other eye as well as a cyst. While Boomies is not currently experiencing any vision issues and continues to actively work as a search and rescue K9 without limitations, the cyst could potentially lead to Golden Retriever Pigmentary Uveitis (GRPU), a hereditary condition that can contribute to glaucoma or vision loss later in life.

Thankfully, she remains happy, healthy, and thriving, and the ophthalmologists strongly recommend continuing with yearly monitoring to best support her long-term vision health.

We cannot thank the ACVO enough for providing such an essential service that is often overlooked and for extending this opportunity to SAR K9s and other working dogs.

As we head into training this morning, we continue to be thankful for all the opportunities we have to learn and grow.

Last weekend, a few members of our team attended the 5th Annual Get Lost Seminar in West Virgina while others worked closer to home.

This weekend, members of our team spent some time up north in Venango County at Two Mile Run attending PA SAREX!

Our members spent two working days in the field with their K9(s) in their chosen discipline. We have members working in trailing, HRD, and air scent.

In the evenings, our members furthered their knowledge and skills by attending classes, including Documentation & Accountability and Bone Identification.

This weekend, many of our team's members are heading to West Virginia for the annual Get Lost Seminar!

Keep learning! Keep improving!
Go team!
