Chemung County Habitat for Humanity is proud to recognize the incredible team of 18 Lowe’s associates from Store #0530 in Big Flats, NY, who recently volunteered a combined 72 hours in a single day at a Lowe’s Build Day at one of our Habitat build sites in Elmira!
Working side by side, these dedicated volunteers helped install insulation in a home that will soon welcome a local family participating in our Homeownership Program. Their hands-on work is helping prepare a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient home where a family can build its future.
As Joscelyn Proesch, Lowe’s Big Flats store manager, shared: “The partnership between Lowe’s and Habitat while working on homes is inspiring. Our associates brought their own knowledge and expertise to the project, while working side-by-side with Habitat staff. Not only are we building homes, but we’re reinforcing the community.” That’s the power of this partnership: sharing skills, strengthening communities, and helping families move closer to the dream of homeownership.
Another group from Lowe's will be onsite next Tuesday!
We’re also grateful that Chemung County Habitat for Humanity recently received a Lowe’s Home Repair Grant that helped us repair 12 homes throughout Chemung County. Through this initiative, 20 Habitat affiliates will complete 200 home repair projects nationwide. Locally, the grant helped us address critical needs, including roofs, porches, flooring, and accessibility improvements—allowing residents to remain safer and more comfortable in their own homes.
Thank you, Lowe’s, for investing your time, talent, and resources in our community. Together, we’re building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
