Time to meet our staff! We LOVE the new energy at the Elroy Public Library and want to introduce the humans that make it happen.

Hello, my name is Caroline.

I joined the Elroy Library in July to cover a few hours even though I hold a full-time job. I had worked previously at the Hillsboro Library and simply missed the BOOKS! My mother brought me to the library every week from our house in Yuba ever since I was an infant, and I am quite sure that I have read the ENTIRE Hillsboro children’s collection including chapter books. The library is my favorite place! My favorite thing to do is to go to bookstores and buy books that no one else gets to touch. You probably are noticing a theme. I am a quiet person, but I would love to visit with you, especially if you want to discuss what you are reading.

Enjoyed the Royall elementary visit today where books were borrowed and Kari shared the secrets of Candy Negotiations for Halloween! The kids are NOT supposed to share with their adults the new skill they learned …..so do NOT ask them the trick!

Thank you WRLS (Winding Rivers Library System) for this grant!

Attending the Wisconsin Library Association conferences is a valuable opportunity for small and rural libraries.

We learn about future governmental changes, updates for technology, trends in serving our patrons, and earn required continuing education credits for our certifications. Not only do we learn from presenters, we get a chance to speak to our professional peers.

The time is precious.

WRLS grant funding allows the small libraries like Elroy to be represented, and we are thankful.

I was privileged to attend the ARSL (Association of Rural and Small Libraries) Conference this week in Montgomery, Alabama thanks to a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. I am rarely overwhelmed, but I was this week. The conference provided a wealth of information, usable examples to improve various areas of the library , and the added history shared of the bravery of Americans to elevate the rights for the entire country made this week stellar. If ever you are even close to Montgomery— do NOT miss out on experiencing the Legacy Museum ! The final day closed with an amazing conversation shared between Dame Louise Richardson of the Carnegie Foundation, Bryan Stevenson the lawyer and author of Just Mercy, and cellist Yo Yo Ma.
