We would like to thank the Department of Wildlife for coming to our 7th grade classes and helping them dissect fish. The students learned so much and loved the activity.

We have had a very busy week at WPMS. We have had guest speakers, our first assembly with tons of games and competitions, and Parent/Teacher Conferences.

We had Spencer Eusden and Megan Kay from UNR Extension Living With Fire program conducted a fire lab with Mrs. Speakman’s Outdoor Education class (September 16th). Students learned how wildfires grow and how to create defensible space to slow down or prevent fires in the first place.

We also had Hans Hallman and Matt Harris from Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition visited Mrs. Speakman’s outdoor education class this week. Students learned how to identify different types of plants on Monday and then they went out into the field on Thursday to practice what they learned.

Also, Ashley and Paola from the Nevada Outdoor School in Elko Nevada visited Mrs. Speakman’s Outdoor Education class. The students learned about the Leave No Trace Skills and Ethics.

Some pictures from our assembly and Corey the Cougar! Last but not least our staff enjoying lunch together before conferences!

It was an exciting weekend for WPMS sports. The volleyball A and B teams had a great day. They won some games and learned a lot. Our football team traveled to Alamo, they didn’t come home with the win, but learned how to work as a team.
