๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ”ฅ VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER & HIGH WINDS ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšจ

โš ๏ธ Emory Fire Department is urging everyone in Rains County to use EXTREME CAUTION!

With fire danger reaching the VERY HIGH level and strong winds in the area, conditions are favorable for fires to ignite and spread rapidly.

๐Ÿ’จ HIGH WINDS + DRY CONDITIONS = DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS!

Under these conditions, even the smallest spark can turn into a fast-moving grass or brush fire within minutes. Strong winds can cause fires to spread quickly, change direction unexpectedly, and become extremely difficult to control.

๐Ÿ”ฅ PLEASE TAKE THESE PRECAUTIONS:

* ๐Ÿšซ Avoid ALL outdoor burning.
* ๐Ÿšฌ Never throw ci******es out of vehicle windows.
* โš ๏ธ Avoid welding, grinding, or any activity that produces sparks near dry vegetation.
* ๐Ÿš— Do not park vehicles on tall, dry grass.
* โ›“๏ธ Secure trailer safety chains to prevent sparks from dragging on pavement.
* ๐Ÿ“ž Report any smoke or uncontrolled fires immediately by calling 911.

๐Ÿš’ VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER means fires can start easily, spread quickly, and require significant resources to contain.

We ask everyone to do their part to help protect our homes, property, livestock, and first responders.

๐Ÿ’จ The wind is already trying to blow us into the next county. Letโ€™s not give it a fire to take along for the ride! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜‚

Stay alert. Stay safe. Help prevent wildfires!

๐Ÿš’ TRAINING TOGETHER, SERVING TOGETHER! ๐Ÿš’

Tonight, members of the Emory Fire Department, Point Fire Department, and East Tawakoni Fire Dept came together at Emory Fire Station 1 for a joint vehicle extrication training.

๐Ÿš— Vehicle extrication is a critical skill that allows firefighters to safely and efficiently remove trapped occupants from vehicles following serious accidents.

Training alongside our neighboring departments helps us improve communication, teamwork, and coordination so that when an emergency happens, we are ready to work together to get the job done.

We want to thank everyone who took time out of their evening to come out and train. Your dedication to improving your skills and serving our communities does not go unnoticed!

We would also like to give a special thank you to Fullers Towing and Recovery for providing the vehicles used during our vehicle extrication training!

Your generosity and continued support help give our firefighters valuable hands-on experience and allow us to better prepare for real-life emergencies.

Thank you for supporting our local fire departments and helping us better serve our communities!

Three departments. One team. One mission. Protecting our communities. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’ Fire Safety Day at Rains Elementary! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Emory Fire Department, Point Fire Department, and East Tawakoni Fire Dept are out at Rains Elementary School today for Fire Safety Day!

If you see our fire trucks and firefighters at the school today, no need to worry โ€” weโ€™re there teaching the kids about fire safety, what to do in an emergency, and the important role firefighters play in our community.

We always enjoy getting the opportunity to spend time with the kids and help them learn how to stay safe! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

A little fire safety education today can make a big difference tomorrow!

๐Ÿ”ฅ RAINS COUNTY BURN BAN LIFTED ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The Rains County burn ban has been lifted, effective immediately today, October 6, 2026.

While the ban is lifted, the risk of grass fires is still present. Emory Fire Department reminds everyone to use caution when burning:

โœ… Burn only when weather conditions are suitable and winds are light.
โœ… Keep water, a hose, and hand tools nearby.
โœ… Clear the area around your burn pile.
โœ… Never leave a fire unattended.
โœ… Completely extinguish all flames, coals, and embers before leaving.
โœ… Continue following all state and local burning requirements.

Please burn responsibly and help us keep our community safe! ๐Ÿš’

๐ŸŽ€ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month ๐ŸŽ€

This month, Emory Fire Department is proud to wear PINK in support of those who are fighting breast cancer, those who have beaten it, and in memory of those we have lost. ๐Ÿ’—

Behind every pink ribbon is a storyโ€”a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, or loved one whose life has been impacted by breast cancer.

Throughout October, we encourage everyone to spread awareness, support those currently fighting, and remind the people you love about the importance of early detection.

๐Ÿš’ Emory Fire Department stands with the fighters, celebrates the survivors, and honors the taken.

๐ŸŽ€ No one fights alone. ๐ŸŽ€

๐ŸŒง๏ธ WEATHER UPDATE ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

We havenโ€™t had to make a weather post like this in a while, but with some much-needed rain moving into the area, we wanted to give everyone a quick update.

Rains County is not currently included in the Flash Flood Watch, but we are right along the edge of the watch area. If the storm system shifts farther east, conditions could change and our area could see an increased risk of flash flooding.

We will be closely watching the weather as this much-needed rain moves through our area and will provide updates as quickly as possible if conditions worsen.

๐Ÿšง If we receive reports of roadways blocked or covered by high water, we will do our best to pass that information along as quickly as possible.

Please use caution while traveling, especially during periods of heavy rainfall. Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway โ€” Turn Around, Donโ€™t Drown.

Stay safe, Rains County! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿš’

A Flood Watch is in effect for much of North and Central TX from this afternoon through Friday morning. Average rainfall totals between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain are expected with isolated higher amounts up to 5 inches possible through Friday morning. Continue to check back for updates to the forecast!
