For the first time in our 40 year history; The Professional Firefighters of Lincoln Local 3038 would like to publicly endorse two candidates for town council this November.

Gordon Street who is seeking re-election to his current seat has been an advocate and supporter since being elected. During his time on the council Gordon has come into our firehouse and sat down with us. He has asked questions to get a better understanding of our job including the area we serve, our day to day operations and the apparatus we use everyday. Gordon has taken hours of his own time to support safe staffing levels for both our community and for the safety of our crews working. Gordon also supported updating our fleet of fire apparatus; which is aging, worn, and includes 2 out of 5 pieces of apparatus approaching the end of their service life. As our call volume continues to rise, Gordon has continued to support our community through public safety initiatives!

We are also endorsing George Edwards who has served on the council in years past and has supported our growth and progress over the years. George has always been a supporter of the mission of public safety. He has advocated for fair and safe working conditions; while understanding that Lincoln is a hub community he understands the importance of maintaining our service contracts and providing quality service to our surrounding contracted service towns and mutual aid communities. George has a long history of supporting public safety through staffing, public education, and proactive planning.

The members of IAFF Local 3038 believe though every election is important, the election this November is of great importance to the future of Lincoln's public safety not only for this generation but for generations to come. These endorsements are not personal and they are not to take away from the good things current or aspiring council people can bring to Lincoln. They are simply endorsements based on what we believe supports the best future for public safety in Lincoln.
