Not all wildlife is large enough to catch our attention, but some of the smallest creatures make the biggest difference.

Bees, butterflies, beetles, and other pollinators help many of our native plants reproduce. These important animals support healthy ecosystems and contribute to the diversity of life around us.

You can help pollinators at home by planting native flowering plants, avoiding unnecessary pesticide use, and providing suitable habitat.

The next time you see a butterfly or bee visiting a flower, take a moment to appreciate the work happening right in front of you.

Have you spotted a Florida Scrub-Jay? Help us protect this special species!

The Florida Scrub-Jay is Florida’s only bird species found exclusively in our state, and it depends on healthy scrub habitat to survive. Reporting sightings helps researchers and conservationists better understand where these threatened birds live and how we can protect them.

If you spot a Florida Scrub-Jay, take note of the location, date, and number of birds observed. If possible, take a photo from a respectful distance without disturbing the birds.

How to report your sighting:
Visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s website to learn about reporting wildlife observations and contributing to conservation efforts: https://myfwc.com/

You can also submit observations through eBird: https://ebird.org/

Every sighting can help build a better understanding of Florida’s wildlife and the habitats they depend on.

Let’s work together to protect Florida’s natural heritage!

Did you know that estuaries are among the most productive ecosystems on Earth?

An estuary is where freshwater and saltwater meet, creating a unique environment that supports fish, crabs, birds, and countless other species.

Here along Florida's Gulf Coast, estuaries play an important role in our environment. They provide nursery habitat for wildlife, help filter water, and support the natural systems that make our coastal communities special.

Protecting our estuaries starts with understanding them.

What wildlife have you spotted around our local waterways?
