Bergen Family Center Bergen Family Center is Bergen County's oldest family service agency.

In 1898, our organization was created, serving
12 children in an after-school program with an annual budget of $100. Over 110 years later, we provide essential, life-altering services to 5,000 clients in our local community. We take great pride in the breadth and quality of our programs and in the knowledge that our work strengthens families for generations to come. At Bergen Family Center, diversity, equity, inclusion, and engagement are central to our organizational values. We strive to eliminate disparities caused by systemic inequities and confront unconscious bias. We are committed to implementing policies and practices that promote equity and justice in our workplace and community.

Our Adult Day Program (ADP) participants took a little adventure to Van Saun Zoo, and what a fun day it was!

From seeing the animals to enjoying the beautiful outdoors, there were plenty of smiles, laughter, and special moments along the way! 🌿☀️

Sometimes, all you need is a change of scenery, some fresh air, and great company to make wonderful memories!

Our first week of HIPPY has officially started, and we already have so many stories to share! 💛

Every family’s HIPPY journey looks a little different, and that’s what makes this program so special. As you look through these photos, you’ll see some of the wonderful families beginning another year of learning, growing, and making memories together. 🏡📚

One of these families recently welcomed a new baby! Mom was worried that this new chapter might mean she would have to leave the HIPPY program—but there was no need to quit.

HIPPY is designed to be flexible and work around your family. The program is available in both English and Spanish, and Mom doesn’t have to be the only teacher! Dad, grandma, grandpa, or another caregiver can participate and help continue the learning at home.

Because every family is different, and HIPPY is here to meet families where they are. 💛

We’re only one week in, and these are just a few of the families whose stories we’ll have the opportunity to share this year. We can’t wait to see what this HIPPY journey brings!

A little creativity during lunchtime! 🎨👜

Our students at The Zone had so much fun designing their own tote bags during our Wednesday Lunch Group. Everyone had the chance to get creative, add their own personal touch, and make something that represented them.

But it’s about more than just decorating a tote bag! Our Wednesday Lunch Group gives students a space to express themselves, connect with others, and learn healthy ways to cope with their emotions through art and creativity. 💛

Our little explorers in Mommy & Me have been learning all about the galaxy! 🌎🌙🚀

Yes, that’s right! What is the name of our planet? Where is the moon? And even… how do we get there?

It has been so much fun exploring these questions together through activities, projects, and lots of imagination. The best part is seeing our little ones learning alongside Mommy and Daddy and creating special memories together. 💛

And the fun doesn’t stop here! Our Mommy & Me class is always happy to welcome new little learners and their families. If you’re interested in joining us and being part of our next adventure, send us a DM to learn more!

Our HIPPY Home Instructors are getting ready for a new program year! 💛🏡

They’ve been busy preparing and delivering materials to the children and families they’ll be working with throughout the year.

This year, 110 children and their families will have the opportunity to be part of this amazing program! Through HIPPY, our Home Instructors go home by home, helping parents build the skills and confidence to be their child’s first and most important teacher. 📚✨

We’re so excited for all the learning, growth, and special moments ahead.

We hope you’re ready, because here at Bergen Family Center, we sure are! 🙌

What a fun afternoon at ADP! 🎶💃

Today’s Showtime Dance Class, provided by BergenPAC, had everyone singing, dancing, and moving along to music from *A Chorus Line*! 🎭

There were plenty of smiles, great energy, and lots of fun as everyone got into the music. We always look forward to these special afternoons together!

We’ve been out and about in the community lately! 💛

From Bryant School in Teaneck and the Bergen County Fall Harvest Festival to Janis E. Dismus Middle School’s Back-to-School Night, Donald A. Quarles Elementary School, and more, the BFC team has been busy meeting families and sharing all that Bergen Family Center has to offer.

We love getting the chance to talk with families, answer questions, share helpful resources, and let more people know about the programs and services available right here in our community.

It’s always great seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones along the way. If you see BFC at an upcoming event, come say hi! 👋
