We have lost a great one! Bob (Porker) Rudeck goes back to the days when East Pennsboro had Fire Police in each of the many fire stations. He was a crucial member of Citizen's Co. 18 operating right out of the station we are in now. He would ride the rigs to a scene and take care of the scene while firefighters did their job.

Upon the creation of East Pennsboro Fire Police Assn. In April of 2025, Bob was one of three that were memorialized with the title Fire Police Emeritus. While no longer active, the Intent was to recognize the vast amount of service to the Fire Police of East Pennsboro.

Rest easy Bob, we'll take it from here!

This story reads about actions our Fire Police deal with every time we respond to a call. In East Pennsboro this year we have had charges filed successfully on a few occasions thanks to the diligence of our Officers of East Pennsboro Township Police Department. We look out for them and our other emergency responders and they look out for us.

In this case, we personally know the Fire Police involved. We work with them regularly when we get called to Dauphin County Fire Police Association to assist.

All WE ask is that YOU look out for everyone out there making the roads safer for everyone be it PD, Fire, EMS, or us, your neighborly Fire Police.

🚨 THREE FIREFIGHTERS HOSPITALIZED AFTER FIRE TRUCK REAR-ENDED ON I-95 🚨

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA

Three Boca Raton firefighters were taken to the hospital after their fire apparatus was REAR-ENDED while protecting an active crash scene on Interstate 95.

Boca Raton Fire Rescue had responded to an earlier crash in the southbound express lanes of I-95. While crews were completing operations, another vehicle slammed into the rear of the fire truck.

THREE FIREFIGHTERS WERE INSIDE THE APPARATUS WHEN IT WAS HIT.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries, while two others were transported for precautionary evaluation. The driver who struck the fire truck was also transported to the hospital.

Thankfully, authorities reported that none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

But once again, we have to ask:

HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?

That fire truck was positioned on the roadway for a reason.

It was there to protect firefighters.

It was there to protect the crash scene.

It was there to create a barrier between approaching traffic and the men and women working just feet away from vehicles traveling at highway speeds.

And even that massive piece of emergency equipment was not enough to prevent another secondary collision.

Every flashing light you see on the roadway represents somebody’s husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, friend or coworker.

They are not obstacles.

They are not inconveniences.

THEY ARE PEOPLE TRYING TO DO THEIR JOB AND GO HOME ALIVE.

When you approach flashing lights:

SLOW DOWN.
MOVE OVER.
PUT THE PHONE DOWN.
PAY ATTENTION.
GIVE RESPONDERS ROOM TO WORK.

Today, three firefighters went to the hospital.

This could have very easily been three families receiving devastating phone calls instead.

From all of us at Slow Down Move Over Inc., we wish the injured Boca Raton firefighters a complete recovery.

SLOW DOWN. MOVE OVER. SOMEONE’S LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

Today, I remember.

Twenty-five years later, the absence is still louder than any siren, any silence, any speech. The towers fell, and with them went thousands of ordinary mornings that never got to become ordinary evenings. Fathers who kissed their children goodbye. Mothers who left notes on the fridge. Friends who said “see you later” and meant it.
I will be silent today. Not because there is nothing to say, but because some truths are too heavy for words. Some losses sit in the chest like stone. Some names still catch in the throat.
So I will not fill the air with noise. I will simply remember.
Hold the people you love a little tighter today. Feel the weight of their presence. Notice the sound of their breathing while you still can. Call the ones who are far. Sit longer with the ones who are near. Say the things that usually go unsaid.
Because the people who left that morning never got the chance to hold anyone again.
Never forget the firefighters and police officers who ran toward the fire.Never forget the strangers who carried strangers.Never forget the courage that rose from the dust when everything else fell.Never forget that love, in its quietest and fiercest forms, was the last thing many of them knew.
Today I will be silent. But my silence is not empty. It is full of them. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We want to wish Heather McKay a safe trip to the North West as she prepares with a team of others in Pennsylvania to help with the ongoing Forrest Fires.

Heather is a member of Enola Fire Company No. 3 - Public and the daughter of two of our very own Fire Police Officers, Don Koch & Roseanne Koch. Her daughter, Alix McKay is also a Junior member with Co. 17.

We will keep the homestead safe while you are away. Thank you for all you do. Here is praying for a safe return.
