Our Sunrise Eagles did a great job participating in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill! This annual event brings together people around the world to practice staying safe during an earthquake. Students practiced “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” learning how to protect their heads and necks and take shelter under a sturdy desk or table.

Student safety is a top priority at Sunrise. We will continue practicing for different types of emergencies throughout the year to help students feel prepared and confident. Ask your child to show you what they learned—it’s a great opportunity to talk about your family’s emergency plan!

Today is Constitution and Citizenship Day!

Students across Sunrise are learning about the Constitution and what it means to be a good citizen. Kindergarteners in Mrs. Lucas’s class created a class promise after learning about the Constitution, while second graders in Mrs. Iacobazzi’s class wrote about the ways they demonstrate good citizenship.

We are proud of our Sunrise Eagles for learning how they can positively contribute to their classrooms, school, and community! 💙💛

We love seeing cooperation and collaboration at work!

Students in Mrs. Iacobazzi’s class are setting up norms for group discussions in the EL reading curriculum that the grade level is piloting. 📚

Students are building a strong foundation for meaningful collaboration, active listening, and thoughtful discussion as they learn together!

Meet Mrs. Lewis!

My name is Angela Lewis, and I am SO excited to be your Early Intervention Specialist here at Sunrise! I can’t wait to get to know each of our amazing students, discover what makes them shine, and help them grow! 🌟
I have been teaching for 26 years—yes, you read that right! I’ve worn many different teacher hats, including classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, Title I teacher, ESL teacher, and various other roles. Each experience has helped shape me into the educator I am today.
I believe kids learn best when they feel cared for, understood, and believed in. Building relationships with students and families is one of my favorite parts of teaching. I’m organized, friendly, calm, an out-of-the-box thinker, and a HUGE advocate for kids. Most importantly, I always put students first-and I LOVE to have fun! I’m also a lifelong learner and am always willing to try something new if it helps a child learn and grow.
A Few Fun Facts About Me! When I’m not at school, you can usually find me reading a good book or enjoying live music.
And now for the really important stuff...
I LOVE KARAOKE! I am always singing! So, if you hear singing coming from my room at Sunrise, come say hello!
I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growing, laughing, and celebrating successes. Most of all, I can’t wait to get to know your children and help them discover just how amazing they are! Let’s make this a GREAT year!
