How we moderate: https://www.grantpud.org/blog/social-media-comments Residents formed the PUD to bring electricity to the county in the 1930s. In the 1950s, they encouraged construction of two dams on the Columbia River to provide renewable, low-cost power for themselves and future generations. We’ve built on that legacy of forward thinking. Today we’re known as a leader in the electric industry, offering high tech services to our peers and our community. We are the people that keep the lights on for Grant County and are proud to be an integral part of this community. This page is an opportunity to communicate information with our customers regarding events, promotions, power outages and other information that may be useful to them. It is not monitored outside of business hours and all emergencies should be reported to our emergency outage line first. You can also contact us at: http://ow.ly/FVvqL.

❄️ Are you ready for freezing temperatures?

If your home has a crawlspace, now is the time to place foam blocks in your foundation vents. Blocking cold air from entering beneath your home can help protect pipes from freezing and may also help reduce heat loss through your floors, making your home more comfortable during the colder months.

✅ Install foam vent blocks
✅ Disconnect outdoor hoses
✅ Insulate exposed pipes
✅ Check weather stripping around doors and windows

A little preparation now can help protect your home, save energy, and prevent costly repairs later.

Homework on the tablet. A video call with grandma. Movie night on the couch. It all runs on something.
We asked Grant County residents what public power means to them. One response we loved: "Public Power is what runs modern society and all our technology."
What does mean to you?

It's Public Power Week, so here's the short version of what "public power" means: this utility belongs to the community it serves. You vote for the people who lead it. They live here too. And the big decisions get made close to home.

This September, fourth grade students from the Wahluke and Royal City school districts spent the day at Wanapum Dam for Grant PUD's annual River of Power educational tour.

Students explored how hydropower is generated and how electricity travels from the Columbia River to their homes and schools, while gaining hands-on experience with dam operations, natural resource stewardship, fish and wildlife conservation, dam safety, and the many careers that support reliable, renewable energy in our region.

Grant PUD is proud to partner with local schools to provide educational opportunities that showcase the power of the Columbia River and the work that keeps the lights on every day.
