The first hard freeze of the season looks to be on the way for areas near and east of HWY 83 tonight. Lows could fall into the mid 20s where the Freeze Watch is in effect. Take time today to protect plants, pets, and outdoor plumbing.

📢 NOTICE TO WHEELER COUNTY RESIDENTS

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) / SWMA will be conducting phragmites spraying in Wheeler County today, Thursday, October 8.

🚁 Spraying will be conducted by helicopter in designated areas of the county.

Residents may see a helicopter operating in the area as the spraying takes place. Please do not be alarmed.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as efforts are made to control the spread of invasive phragmites in Wheeler County.

Thanks to the Wheeler County Commissioners and Emergency Management, the new village siren is installed and working! In addition to sounding for emergencies, also note that the siren will sound daily at noon.
