We love connecting with our community—especially in the classroom! Recently, our team had the opportunity to educate local elementary school students by sharing a fun, age-appropriate lesson about eye health and vision care.
From learning how our eyes work to understanding the importance of regular eye exams, students were engaged and curious every step of the way. One topic that really resonated? 👇
💻 Protecting their eyes from too much screen time
We talked about simple habits kids can start using today, like:
✅ Taking regular breaks from screens (think the “20-20-20 rule”)
✅ Spending time outdoors to give their eyes a rest
✅ Keeping screens at a safe distance and using good lighting
By empowering students with these small but meaningful changes, we’re helping them build lifelong habits that support healthy vision.
A big thank you to our local schools for welcoming us—we’re proud to be part of a community that values education, wellness, and bright futures! 💙

Wednesday Club members got the opportunity for a hands-on demonstration for using white canes in support of mobility. This was thanks to Carly at the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services. She explained the different canes for different purposes. Among the most popular versions are the long canes which are extensions of the user's arm meant for navigating their surroundings & obstacle detection, support canes or short canes are more for physical balance and designed to bear weight. They come with many different features and specialized structures including different tips designed for an array of mobility styles, different handles, materials, etc. Needless to say, it's important to find the one that best suits you and your navigation needs!
Wednesday Club also spent time reflecting on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our county and our freedom and would like to wish you and your family a safe and thoughtful Memorial Day weekend full of remembrance and peace.
