Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

This Veterinary Technician Week, we’re taking a moment to celebrate two of the incredible people behind the scenes caring for the animals at the Erie Zoo: Susie & Zoie. Both play an important role in our veterinary team, bringing knowledge, compassion, and dedication to the care of our animals every day.

Meet Susie!
🩺 Favorite part of the job: Working with the animals here during trainings. They think they are working towards a reward, but they are actually participating in their own medical care, as well as getting the enrichment that they need.

🐾 Favorite animal: The Rhinos! They are actually my all-time favorite animal anywhere (don't tell my personal dogs and cats that though)!!

💙 Fun fact: that I hated school while I was growing up, but I absolutely loved going to college and love to learn as an adult. There is always a lesson to be learned in my world.

Meet Zoie!
🩺 Favorite part of the job: Participating in training sessions and forming relationships with the animals

🐾 Favorite animal: Favorite animals to work with at the Zoo are the guenon and their favorite animal in general are axolotls

💙 Fun fact: Big fan of insects, easily distracted by cool bugs
