Last month, members of our Erie County Prison team participated in HNT/Critical Incident Response training at the Crawford County Jail.
Training like this is an important part of keeping our facility, staff, and community prepared. Critical incidents require communication, teamwork, professionalism, patience, and strong decision-making under pressure. Our staff continue to step up, sharpen their skills, and represent Erie County Prison with pride.
A huge thank you to Crawford County Jail for hosting this valuable training opportunity, and thank you to all of our staff who took part and continue to invest in their growth and readiness.
Prepared. Professional. Committed.
That is what correctional excellence looks like. π

Speaking of supporting dogsβ¦ πΎ
Yesterday, we shared our appreciation for The ANNA Shelter and the important work they do for animals in our community.
Today, we want to recognize another special group that gave back to our team.
Last week, during Correctional Employee Appreciation Week, Therapy Dogs United visited Erie County Prison to support and encourage our correctional staff. Their presence brought smiles, comfort, and a much-needed boost to our team during a week dedicated to recognizing the difficult and important work correctional employees do every day.
A huge thank you to the Therapy Dogs United and their handlers for taking the time to visit, connect with our staff, and remind us how powerful a little kindness can be.
We appreciate you! ππΆ

This week has been about recognition, but our appreciation for you is not limited to one week. The work you do matters every day, on every shift, in every area of this facility.

NATIONAL CORRECTIONAL EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION WEEK:
CELEBRATING TEAMWORK & DEDICATION
Today, we celebrate the teamwork and dedication that keep the Erie County Department of Corrections moving forward every single day.
In corrections, no one succeeds alone. Safety, security, order, and professionalism are built through people working together; officers, supervisors, support staff, medical, mental health, treatment, food service, maintenance, clerical, counselors, and every person who plays a role in the mission.
This work requires trust.
It requires communication.
It requires sacrifice.
It requires people who are willing to step up for one another when the day gets difficult.
Every shift depends on teamwork, staff watching out for each other, backing each other up, sharing experience, mentoring newer employees, and staying focused when the pressure is high. The strength of this facility is found in the commitment of the people who serve here.
To every employee who gives their time, energy, patience, and heart to this profession: thank you.
Thank you for your dedication.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Thank you for your commitment to one another.
Thank you for helping make this facility stronger.
π We work together.
π We stand together.
π We serve together.
π We are ECP Strong.
The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.

NATIONAL CORRECTIONAL EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION WEEK:
RECOGNIZING SUPERVISORS AND LEADERSHIP
Today, we recognize the supervisors and leaders of the Erie County Department of Corrections, the individuals who set the tone, carry the weight, and lead with purpose every single day.
Leadership in corrections goes far beyond rank. It is presence in the unit, consistency in decision-making, accountability in every action, and setting the example when it matters most. Itβs being the calm in chaos, the voice of direction in uncertainty, and the standard others look to when situations get difficult.
Our supervisors are not just managing operations, they are mentoring staff, building confidence in newer officers, making critical decisions in real time, and ensuring the safety and professionalism of the entire facility. They carry the responsibility of both mission and people, often without recognition.
You lead long shifts, navigate complex situations, and still find a way to support your teams. You step in when needed, stand firm when it counts, and never lose sight of the bigger picture.
That is what true leadership looks like.
Thank you for leading from the front.
Thank you for standing behind your staff.
Thank you for holding the line when it matters most.
π Your leadership makes a difference.
π Your example builds strength.
π Your commitment drives this facility forward.
Strong leadership doesnβt just build strong teams, it builds trust, confidence, and a culture of excellence.
