The Erlanger Police Department is proud to congratulate Detective Brian Guilfoyle on graduating from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s (DOCJT) 11th Criminalistics Academy!

This intensive, 10-week program provides advanced, hands-on training in forensic science and complex crime scene investigations. From evidence collection and processing to shooting scene reconstruction, clandestine grave recovery, and post-explosion investigations, participants develop specialized skills to uncover critical evidence and help reconstruct events.

This achievement reflects Detective Guilfoyle’s commitment to professional excellence and strengthens our department’s ability to conduct thorough investigations, preserve critical evidence, and pursue justice for victims and their families.

We are proud of Detective Guilfoyle’s dedication to his profession and his commitment to bringing this valuable expertise back to the Erlanger community.

Please help us congratulate Officer Lonaker! He was recognized yesterday at the 2026 Governor's Occupant Protection Safety Award Ceremony in Lexington for his efforts in child safety seat and seatbelt enforcement. Officer Lonaker does great work for our community and we are proud of him!

We would also like to congratulate all the Officers throughout the Commonwealth who were also recognized today! All of your efforts are saving lives in our great state!

The Erlanger Police Department is asking for your help in protecting our community.

Over the past several weeks, Northern Kentucky has experienced a noticeable increase in vehicle break-ins, vehicle thefts, and damage to parked vehicles. Unfortunately, Erlanger has also seen several of these incidents.

You can help reduce your risk by taking a few simple precautions:

• Remove all valuables from your vehicle.
• Always lock your vehicle, even if it's parked in your driveway.
• Please do not leave fi****ms inside your vehicle. If you must transport a fi***rm, secure it properly and remove it from your vehicle whenever possible.
• If you notice suspicious activity in your neighborhood, report it immediately by contacting the Kenton County Dispatch Center at (859) 356-3191. If you witness a crime in progress or an emergency, always call 911.

Our officers have increased targeted patrols and are actively investigating these incidents. Community members serve as our extra eyes and ears, and your timely reports greatly improve our ability to deter crime, identify suspects, and solve cases.

We sincerely appreciate the continued partnership and support of our residents. Working together, we can help keep Erlanger a safe place to live, work, and visit.

Please join the Erlanger Police Department in congratulating Sergeant John Hines on his graduation from the 107th Academy of Police Supervision at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training!

The Academy of Police Supervision is a prestigious three-week leadership program designed to further develop Kentucky's first-line supervisors in the areas of leadership, decision-making, and successfully addressing the evolving challenges of law enforcement.

Sergeant Hines successful completion of this academy reflects his commitment to professional growth and leadership, as well as his dedication to serving the citizens of Erlanger and supporting the officers he leads each day.

Please see the attached post from the Northern Kentucky Strike Force (NKYDSF) regarding their investigation at a residence in Erlanger early this morning. The NKYDSF was assisted by the Erlanger Police Department and the NKY SWAT Team.

We are thankful for the collaboration and commitment from our partnering agencies as we strive to keep Erlanger and Northern Kentucky safe!

****Investigation / Road Closure****
Police are on the scene of an active investigation near the railroad overpass in Erlanger. Dixie Highway between Hallam Avenue and Stevenson Road is closed in both directions. There is no danger to the public, and the scene is contained at this time. This road closure could continue for several hours. Please avoid this area and allow officers to safely handle the ongoing situation.
