The 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry Regiment, was constituted on 22 July 1885 in the California National Guard as the 7th Infantry Battalion and organized from existing companies in southern California. It expanded, reorganized, and was redesignated on 5 May 1888 as the 7th Infantry Regiment. It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to one of our Blackfoot Troopers. PFC Velasconavarro was layed to rest at the Miramar National Cemetery on December 5th. Blackfoot Troop and the Squadron Command team showed up to support the family and say goodbye to a brother.

Until we meet again in Fiddlers Green. Rest easy brother.

This is the best part of leadership. Today, we had the pleasure of recognizing SSG Hopstein by presenting him with an Army Commendation Medal. We were also able to advance PV2 Courage, PV2 Cervantes, and PV2 Valasco to the rank of Private First Class. We followed it up by promoting 2 Blackfoot Troopers, SPC Bentzen, and SPC Frame to the rank of Sergeant and inducting them into the Non-Commissioned Officer Corps.

Blackfoot Troop was activated on January 10th to support civil authorities fighting the Eaton fire in Pasadena/Altadena, CA. These Troopers answered the call and are doing an amazing job! They are dedicated to serving their community and helping any way they can to make life safer and better for the people of Pasadena.@Californianationalguard@1stsquadron18thcavalry.

Blackfoot Troop had a great December IDT. Starting with the ACFT and promotion ceremony for SPC Kent Rodriguez. Then, an awesome MWR event playing softball and a barbeque.

the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress, two days after a vote on whether to separate from the United Kingdom. If you are able to take time to enjoy this significant day in our nations history day with friends, family, and loved ones, please celebrate safely and remember to show some appreciation for those in uniform abroad who are not able to celebrate today.
