📚✨ A New Chapter Begins This August! After serving the community from the temporary location at the mall, the Escondido Public Library is preparing to head home, and we can't wait to welcome you back.
Here's what to expect during the transition:
📦 Saturday, June 27, will be the last day at the mall location. The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
📚 Beginning Monday, June 29, library services will continue in the Pioneer Room (247 S. Kalmia St.) while we complete the move back into the Library. Temporary hours will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
🚚 Throughout July, staff will be relocating collections, furniture, equipment, and materials back into the renovated facility. During this time, please continue visiting us in the Pioneer Room.
🎉 On August 1, join us as we celebrate the Library's return home with a community ribbon cutting! More details are coming soon.
📖 Then, on August 3, the Escondido Public Library officially reopens seven days a week—including Sundays!
The renovated Library includes shorter shelving for improved visibility and accessibility, covered solar parking, enhanced lighting, refreshed interiors, ADA-accessible restrooms, and a new HVAC system. New spaces include a dedicated Teen Space, café area, communal workspaces, study rooms, and a flexible gathering space for programs and activities.
And, of course, the beloved student tiles and children's murals will still be there to welcome you home.
We know many community members have grown fond of the Library's temporary home at the mall, and we're grateful for your support throughout this transition. Over the next several weeks, staff will be putting the finishing touches on the project and moving everything back into place. We look forward to welcoming you home to the Library this August! ❤️📚

Help shape Escondido’s newest public art! A signature art piece is coming to the Grand Avenue roundabout, and we want to hear from you. 🎨
The Public Art Commission is selecting an artist or artist team to create a large sculpture and four related pieces that capture the theme “Authentically Escondido.” The main sculpture will be installed at Grand Ave. and Broadway, with companion pieces placed throughout each council district.
Three finalist artists have been selected, all with experience creating safe, lasting public art and collaborating with communities. Now it’s your turn to help shape the vision.
💬 What themes, ideas, or stories should be reflected in the final piece? Share what Escondido means to you. Your input will help guide the selection of the artist and the design.
