At Iowa Lakes, learning goes beyond the classroom! Our Veterinary Technician program gives students hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art on-site animal clinic, where they build the skills and confidence needed for a career in veterinary medicine.

We love hosting the next generation of Lakers! Thank you to this group for travelling all the way from Sioux Falls to check out our Aviation & Airport Management program.

Clear skies and big futures ahead! 🌤️🛫
Forty-three of the Career and Technical Education Academy Aviation students traveled from Sioux Falls, SD, to explore the training facilities at Iowa Lakes Community College Aviation in Estherville.
The group headed over to the Estherville Municipal Airport hangar to examine the aircraft up close, and a few of the students even logged some virtual "flight time" inside the simulator! It was a look at what it takes to turn a passion for flight into a high-flying career. 🛠️🛩️

Iowa Lakes Gives Back at the Third Annual Laker Whisker Walk!

Iowa Lakes Community College students, employees, and community members came together for the third annual Laker Whisker Walk, raising funds and collecting essential supplies for People for Pets in Spencer.

With support from the Iowa Lakes Student Senate, Veterinary Technician program, student volunteers, and generous community donors, the event helped make a difference for animals in need. Participants enjoyed a 5K walk with their own pets or shelter dogs, with 100% of proceeds benefiting People for Pets.

Laker Alumni Spotlight: Tate Myers, Construction Technology Management

From the classroom to the construction site, Tate Myers found his fit at Iowa Lakes Community College!

Tate first heard about Iowa Lakes through a fellow alum, but it was meeting Assistant Professor Corey Menning and discovering that students get the opportunity to design and build a house from the ground up that sealed the deal!

Some of Tate’s favorite memories include learning and working alongside his classmates and competing in SkillsUSA, where he earned an impressive 4th-place finish at the national level! At Iowa Lakes, small class sizes mean students build more than skills — they build connections, friendships, and relationships that last long after graduation.

💬 Tate’s advice for Future Lakers?

Last week, Iowa Lakes had the honor of hosting a legislative roundtable discussion focused on the challenges of recruiting healthcare educators to rural communities like ours. The conversation highlighted the importance of this issue and explored potential solutions to help address the need.

At Iowa Lakes, we’re committed to providing the programs our communities need, and our Nursing program is a great example of that commitment in action.
