Many wonderful things happening in October. We have 2 exciting scavenger hunts. 3 breakfasts celebrating special days: Country Ham Day, Cream of Wheat Day, and Pizza Month!
Introducing a new Bingo-style game,Rock Around the Clock. New Bingo games : Speed Bingo and British Bingo. Our educational programs include A Dementia Program, Occupational Therapy Program, Diabetes Education, and Breast Cancer Awareness. And our trip of the month we celebrate Golden Arches Day with a trip for lunch to McDonald’s.

You are invited to join us for a Chicken and Waffle Breakfast Monday beginning around 9:30. We are celebrating National Breakfast Month, National Chicken Month, and National Waffle Month.
There is no charge.

We are so fortunate to have received this grant from the Department of Disability and Aging. Because of this we are able to provide outstanding programs and activities for our seniors and have the best equipment and facilities.

SENIOR CENTER FUNDING: 122 TN senior centers have been awarded a piece of a $5 million grant awarded by the Department of Disability and Aging.

SHIP will be at the Senior Center in Etowah on October 16th at 9:00 to talk about the updates and changes with Medicare. They will also be at E G Fisher Library the same date at 1:00. SHIP is the State of Tennessee Health Insurance Assistance Program. They are not affiliated with any insurance company.
They are now making appointments for November 17 at the senior center to help you make any changes to your plan or to see if your plan is the best fit for you. You must have an appointment. Because space is limited, please call the number at the bottom of the flier as soon as possible.

Many activities at the senior center this month. 2 Evidenced-Based Programs: Bingocize and Matter of Balance. Both classes are full.
Medicare update with Lielani on the 16th. Would be excellent for anyone who has Medicare.
And a special all day celebration on the 21st for National Senior Center Month. Our Flu and COVID Vaccine Clinic is on the 28th.

The best cake walk is when everyone wins! We had enough cakes for everyone! Was so nice to get out in the fresh air!

A big thanks to Tim, Karen, Chris, and Jonathan for coming to the center to present the Car-Fit and Yellow Dot Programs. They are all current truck drivers who volunteer with the Tennessee Trucking Association to make sure older drivers are safely driving their vehicles. The Yellow Dot program provides medical information to First Responders in case you have an accident.
